So totally tired of the "polar vortex." My pets see the camera and think to themselves, "Oh, no! There she goes again." I think they, too, are wishing for warmer weather so I stop taking their photos.

Cute canine and opportunistic feline photos ahead. Thought I'd warn you. :)

Actually Barb they were Industrial arts teachers 30 years ago. Today they are Tech classes. Also to convince the woosies to go outside is to tell them they can do it once in a while or do it daily like the mailman you know!

My photography class is a bunch of wooses and weenies: it was "too cold" to go outside. This came from one of the kids who is notorious for running out of the school without a jacket or hoodie. We ended up taking photos around the school. I took this of our Industrial Arts teacher (for those of us who remember it being called Shop Class) while one of my students (whose hand you can see) was taking Mr. Lasky's photo. I used my D7000, my non AF Nikkor f/1.4 35mm lens, and set at ISO 400, no flash. It came out better than I expected. The only post processing I did was adjust the exposure by one stop and convert it to a JPG.

The idea was to take photos using available light. The kids are using Nikon 4300 P&S cameras. They take very good photos for what they are. They don't do RAW, but they do take 1080 video. I will spare you some of the videos my students have taken. :)

Well, the cats and dog are safe today. They are still quite alive. :)

WooHoo! We had a heat wave! the temperature reached the upper 20s. While out this morning running errands, I passed by one of the many miniature golf courses (if you can call them that) we have around here. This one has a jungle theme. Below are two of the jungle critters.

good to hear the animals are safe after being photographed by you and I am glad you told me I had not been drinking. It reminded me that I need to start.

Back to cold, dark, dreary, damp day. :( Definitely not conducive to going outside. This is what I am reading on such an icky day. And Don, no I did not eat the book. :) Critters are safe, too.

Before anyone thinks this is a political statement about what is happening in Ukraine, it is not. I have wanted to read this book for quite a while when it came out in hardcover and picked up the paperback edition today at Barnes & Noble.

When it is 3 deg F outside, there is always the color sketch option for something that would otherwise be a boring photo.

I am really looking forward to spring, allergies and all. :)

Although it was 06F this morning, it turned into a veritable heat wave this afternoon, when temperatures hit the mid-20s! WooHoo! Anyway, I looked out the kitchen window a little while ago and saw a small herd of deer munching away on something under the trees. I used my D7000, Nikkor AF 55-200mm zoom non-VR, ISO 800, f/5.6, focal length 185mm, 1/80 sec. Not the best for handheld, but at least you know the brown blobs are deer. :)

I pass by this wooden cutout woodpecker at least twice a week. I finally decided to stop and get a photo of it.

Now That's a Woodpecker!

Spooky is my usual companion when I am trying to do something on my laptop. He's my computer chum. He will sit on my arm, making it very difficult to type. :)
