The Black Capped Chickadee is in the running for Canada's Official National Bird.

This is just a snipe of a poll the Weather Network is doing does not affect the outcome.

National Bird Project - Canadian Geographic - Vote for Canada's national bird This is official site - FYI the Common Loon is way ahead in the votes but this is not a democratic election - there was no national television debate - a panel of experts will decide which one is most worthy. My bet is the Snowy Owl - Snow because it's Canada eh, Owl because is is the symbol of wisdom. But I'm not on the panel. The Common Loon is on our dollar coin - the "Loonie" and while that has made it very, well common. It is well - common. This poor Chickadee weathers our winters and is in the running but not going to win.

Yes, it certainly crops well.
This is why I do not miss the 100mm shortfall when compared to the sigma c as a shot taken with the nikon 200-500 cropped to or beyond 600mm equivalent easily betters a shot taken with the sigma c at 600mm ( then again, is the sigma c a true 600mm? more like 560mm if you ask most users).

I can't follow the techno-gargon that Nikon spins out about this lens but apparently the "e" on 5.6e does make a difference. Half a stop better than the competition (which makes a big difference when mounting a 1.4 TC) But apparently it has "e"xtra special F stops. Whatever they did they have a winner.

I know that long primes are thousands but I do find it amusing to see it called a "Budget lens". In Canada it is retailing close to two grand after taxes. (e.g. https://photographylife.com/nikon-200-500mm-vs-tamron-150-600mm-vs-sigma-150-600mm-c ) I suppose "budget" is all relative.

On the other hand compared to the other 200-500mm on the market I guess it is a bargain. Of course that green "Bigma" is a 2.8.

(Sniped from Henrys.com out of Toronto when I checked to see current retail - I paid more than that for mine in Edmonton earlier this year).
