Toronto was just hit with a major Ice Storm. I took this picture down by the Lake during a lull in the storm. Nikon D800 and Nikon Nikkor 50mm lens.

Went to Captain Cootes Trail in Burlington Ontario, today with a fellow photographer friend. A very small selection of the hundreds of images I took today. We had the Chickadees eating out of our hands, they were so hungry. I guess the ice storm has made it difficult for them to find food.

All taken with my:

Nikon D800
Nikon Nikkor 400mm f3.5
Nikon SB-910
Manfroto Tripod

It has been a while since I last posted, my apologies, the weather in Toronto has been hideous!! A few images I have taken around town and in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Two of my favourite Butterfly images. Taken at the Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara Falls.

I took these in Black and White to accentuate the Fog we had a few weeks ago. For the most part, Toronto has been in a deep freeze, then we had an ice storm, and now back to a deep freeze. Has played Havoc on the trees, destroying many….

Some images of the Fog….

Taken with my Nikon Nikkor 16-35mm

Common Tree Swallow

Didn't realize it has been a long while since I have been on Nikonites, apologies.

The Common Tree Swallows are back in town, setting up nests. Took these on one outing to the park.

Lovely shots Art. I would just like to see them a little bigger... :(

Thanks, Guys, greatly appreciate the comments and the "LIKES".

I had a car accident a couple of months ago and have be laid up with a bad back. Got hit from behind. Just started getting out again. Not yet 100%, but good enough to spend a few hours out with the gear.

The accident caused some disc issue in my back and walking was a nightmare, much less carrying anything. Forget 20lbs of camera gear!

But, I am back in the saddle, hope to start posting more again as the weather becomes nicer.

Marcel,

Apologies for the size. This is my standard image posting size on the internet. Anyone who rips them off can't do much with them.

Glad you enjoyed them, delighted you posted and told me so! :)

Sorry to hear about the accident Art. I know what you mean about those discs since I take those pain killer meds like daily vitamins.

Glad that you are slowly recovering and welcome back.

Thanks, Glenn, I am a little stubborn when it comes to meds. Suffered through this without a script from the doctor, although he offered more than a few times.

Back is better, but still tender. Dealing with a stubborn pinched nerve in my left hip that won't let up. It is what it is. Things could always be worse.

I am sorry to hear you have some issues. Disc pain is simply awful!! Don't wish it on anyone. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks.

A Day at the Races.... Lure Racing!

I have to admit, the D800 is not the best sports camera. Had a lot of issues locking focus and when I did, any burst I took would fill the buffer quickly and had to wait for it to clear.

The light wasn't the best, a clear sunny day would have improved the images substantially. Had to push the ISO to well over 4000. The FPS rate is also very poor on a D800. Not impressed.

I am not stating anything I haven't stated before about the camera, these are my only beefs.

Here are a small sampling of the images from last weekend. Enjoy.

the opportunity to go out with a good friend to do some more nature shots. Extremely lucky to find not only a nest pair of Grebe's, but other interesting small birds as well. The birds have hit Toronto in a big way this last few week, nest and carrying about! Some more images for your viewing pleasure on the abilities of the Nikon D800.
