Actually, you're about six months early - Veteran's Day is in November.

This weekend I give thanks to and remember my brothers and sisters in arms that gave their last full measure of devotion to this great nation.

Anytime is a good time to thank our men and women that serve their country. I live near Keesler Air Force Base and just about see someone in uniform each time I go some where so I get the opportunity often, so to me, every day is the right day to tell them THANKS!

I went to my granddaughters dance recital yesterday and this is a shot taken at the end when they all came out on stage. It was taken at the Biloxi,Ms. Coast Colosseum and I was sitting in the upper section about 200FT from the stage.
I did take this with and without the flash and using the flash really made a difference, even at this distance.

Shot with
Nikon D600
Nikon 70-200VR F2.8 lens at 102mm
Nikon SB900 flash
Shot at a distance of about 200ft
Handheld
1/200 sec shutter speed
ISO 500

I thought I would post the picture that I took of the dance group without using flash taken at ISO 6400 so you can compare it to the other shot taken with my flash. This was taken just before the previous picture. On this picture you will see many pieces of tape that are on the floor of the stage along with numbers along the front edge of the stage to mark places that the dancers should be at in different dances and in the first post I did remove them to make for a much cleaner picture. Notice the red color cast from the lights in the pictures especially in the backdrop of this shot compared to the first post taken with my flash. These shots were taken about 20 seconds apart.

That's very interesting Jeff. I like the one without the flash too because of the dramatic aspects of the dancer's shadows on the floor, the backdrop looks more realistic (3D-ish), and the colors in the back rows. If the front rows were not washed out, I think I would like the one without the flash better. What would happen if you did a composite? Possible? Anyway, both are awesome.

Do to the fact I don't know how to do a composite it probably wouldn't look very good.

This is something new in Gautier, Ms. It is in the middle of one of the intersections where roads meet and you drive around the circle to get where you are going.

Nice, but I wonder how many accidents will occur because one of the drivers is checking out the art work and not watching others in the roundabout.

we have them here in washington and i hate the damm things, no one knows which lane to be in. Wonder how much the center piece added to the cost.

This is one of the many stops where you can wait for the trolly that will take you up and down the coast. The bench is in the shape of a boat to go along with the Coastal theme.

we have a roundabout in one of the shopping malls, seems to me most people do not know what yield means, i see people already going around the roudabout stopping to let the other cars on, and others just driving straight on.

We have one in Binghamton. People have never figured out how to drive around one causing accidents galore. Then, the state, in its infinite stupidity, decided to "update" it. Now it is even worse. What I don't understand is that in cities, Like New York, they have traffic circles (Columbus Circle comes to mind) which includes traffic lights and multiple lanes wide. Why is that people cannot figure out how to navigate a traffic circle. [SIGH]
