The light is an old lamp that I have used at my shop forever it has a curly q fluorescent bulb in it. I used a plain white t shirt wrapped around a panel board as a reflector. My other son was my lighting tech when I made the snap. He moved everywhere I asked him and pointed the lamp how I said to...he is a good hand!

I really love my D5000 do not get me wrong but I can't wait to get my hands on a Fuji F mount Pro.Made this one this afternoon in pretty harsh light somewhere around 300ish shutter speed, f8, and ISO 200 with the 105/2.5...it is ok but the neck is burnt out a bit. It is hard working with that kind of light. Probably could have used a little fill flash but I don't like flash.

The more I shoot, the more I avoid direct sunlight. Most of my best shots are in cloudy conditions, avoiding the harsh highlights. You've got some nice background blurr on that shot!

I hear you Rick but alas the great diffusors in the sky were not around today...it was just cold and clear. In the original file the background stuff is sublime that is because of the 105 and the fact that the background stuff is far far away from the subject.

I look for open shade if at all possible. For my stuff it helps on 2 fronts. Less sunglasses and nice soft light :)

Native Oklahoma Cactus...I've shot this one a few times before...this one is done with the 105...I have decided the best way to do these cactus shots in the future is to use the 28.

I just realized how I could have made #290 a great snap instead of just a snap...I need a reflector! :)

You see...always learning! Forgetting...relearning!
