Sonia 3 is just terrific. I love the effect of the lights and the clarity of her face.

Thank you, Patrick! I appreciate it! Shooting her in that kind of light was difficult. 1/4sec, f/5.3, iso 3200 shot at 45mm with the kit lens, the 18-55vr on a tripod with a remote shutter release. Manual focus needed since the camera wanted to focus on the mics, and I wanted it on the pop filter, with her face ever so slightly out of focus to give a kind of dreamy effect. The de-saturation helped with that a little as well in post.

Actually, we ended up only using one mic, i was just trying to find which sounded best on her. Turned out, the cheaper one was the warmest. go figure.

lol. I know what you mean. my brother buys all these Rhodes mics and I buy the cheaper akg's and I still get the sound I'm looking for. again like photography there's a lot of PP in music recording also lol. you a protools user?

My next postings mark en exit from my D5100 and an entry into D7K territory. Let's now see if my skill increases! :tongue-new:

Good luck with the new camera. It's the buttons that you'll like the most once you get to know which one does what. It'll make life so much easier for you once you master it.

I used to be a PT user. I've since switched to Reaper though. I miss certain things about PT, but not a whole lot. My issues with Digi stem back years and they're not pleasant. I've not had any of the weirdo issues that I had with PT now however.

After awhile of not shooting much of nothing, I went out tonight and tried to catch some cloud patterns over the lake. What I got was a real treat from my new D7000 and 16-85. I also used the Marumi CP on this one. What a pleasant surprise!

The 40 is a really nice lens for a really nice price. It seems to me as if it's a little tricky getting DOF with macro simply because of the working distance of the lens. Though, I'm glad I bought it instead of the 50 and kept my 35 to be honest. It opens up a new world of photography and covers an area that I previously had empty.
