Thanks for the updates! I'm still waiting for an email from Nikon that confirms that they have received my D600. I think they're backed up. I can only imagine . . .

Got a billing estimate letter last night, sent from the 13th, but even that clearly states no need to approve the estimate on no charge jobs, so nice little memorabilia to keep. Else, still no word on return shipping and status is still Billing...

Received my D600 back from Nikon Service. Thet performed the following work: RPL SHUTTER MECHANISM; RELATED PARTS; CLN IMAGE SENSOR; CKD AUTO FOCUS OPERATION; CKD BAYONET MOUNT; GENERAL CHECK & CLEAN. I did receive my flash guard, LCD cover, and body cap back. The Service Description was: B2; Service Repair Rank B2; Write up; Repair; SC 201117. There was no charge for two-way shipping or the repair. The Service took a full 22 days.

If there are any problems with the Service on the Camera, I will post them later in this Thread.

Ohhhh sneaky Nikon. Shipped it out last night, but only updated the status as of this morning, so I'm getting it back today. So that's about a 14 day turnaround (with weekends).

Same. Sensor is clean and clear, but we'll see after I put 1k shots on it. Mine too, had no AF adjustment that lots of people had (perhaps outside of the recall, so under normal warranty).

I've also read that, for whatever reason, if you did not sent it in strictly under the recall service, then they did not do the same exact procedure with the shutter hence why some people who sent theirs in right before had spots return.

Well I finally got my D600 back 23 days later. I put a lens on to test it out and have a huge streak or scratch from the top left boarder of the AF down to the lower left.

Not sure if it's in the viewfinder or reflecting onto it but I called in right away only to find out that they didn't even do the servicing and shutter swap.

Confirmed by Nikon rep was just cleaned after waiting for long and sent back. Previous problems not fixed and new issues with the camera now.

Sounds like a scratch on the focusing screen. Did they clean it with silverware or what? I'd def complain and get them to let you send it back.

When I received my D600 after its second repair, not only were there spots, there was a larger mark that was bigger than spots. And all they did during that second repair was to clean the low pass filter that is over the sensor. During its 3rd repair, Nikon determined the sensor was scratched, but I have no idea how the sensor can be scratched since there is a low pass filter over it.

There is more than the yellow low-pass filter over the sensor. See attached JPEG. The text states this filter stack is for the D800, but its the same stack as the D600. Jake, "BackdoorHippie," explained in an earlier thread, the Magenta filter was removed for the D800e. One has to wonder, if there is some kind of acid in the shutter lubricant that can damage the yellow low-pass filter if it is made from geletin.

Thanks for the info. I don't know what the yellow low-pass filter is made from, but Nikon replaced the sensor. It didn't say anything about the low-pass filter. After 3 unsuccessful repairs, I am much happier with my D610. It's a shame though because the D600 would have been a fantastic camera if not for the chronic spots--which in my case never stopped after 3 months of owning the camera.

I'm not having a great experience with my D600 being returned to Nikon for repairs. I originally sent my camera in to Nikon's LA facility, back on March 1st. I received an update from UPS that stated that a truck was delayed and that my camera would arrive a few days late. I've been awaiting a confirmation email from Nikon. I called twice and was supposed to get a reply on the status of my camera. I did not get a call, but they claimed that the camera had been received in LA. I called a few days later, and they said that my camera has been shipped from the LA facility, to a Nikon facility in NY, due to the overload of D600's arriving in LA. Basically, Nikon's facilities are flooded with returns. I'm supposed to receive my official receipt email from Nikon, by Monday's (Tomorrow) close of business . . . We shall see. Worst case senario -- They lose my D600 and have to replace it with a D610 :)

This makes me wonder if the rush of D600 repairs will slow down by around July when I'll be in the US. I'm debating on just continuing to clean it myself every month or so...

My update...

After getting no where I got ahold of the emails for the regional supervisor and the Nikon Canada CEO. I forwarded an email to them expressing my concerns and experience in regards to the D600.

These emails did the trick as my questions on my "my nikon" page were almost immediately escalated.

Now today I received a personal call from Nikon saying they would like to exchange my faulty D600 with a D610.

From what I've read the D610 has not had any major issues, so I look forward to getting to use my nikon gear again and putting all this behind me hopefully.

Nice.

Mine seems to have only 2 barely noticeable ones @f/22, so that's a good sign. Regardless of their progression or lack there of, I'm going to wait a couple months before I check again and ponder whether or not to try re-sending it in.

Any way you could send me a private message with these email adresses for the Canada Nikon CEO? I'm looking at a way to work out something for my case.

UPDATE: Keep in mind that I sent my D600 to the LA facility, on March 1st. It stayed there for over a week, then Nikon decides to ship my camera from LA to their NY facility, due to an overload of D600 repairs. Next, they tell me that my camera is now in the shop of the NY facility. Today, I look online and find out that my repairs are on delay, due to being on, "Parts Hold." I call Nikon and they confirm that my camera is on hold because of Nikon being out of stock on this specific part. We shall see . . .
