Hello all,

I am currently eyeing the D7200 as my next upgrade, but reading here about the D400, seems it might be a better option. What do you guys think???/ Should I wait and see what comes, since Sept is just around the corner?
The rumour about this fabled camera being released have been doing the rounds for years. I'd be all over one if it did get released, but you'd probably be safe with the D7200

If I was a betting man, I would not bet on the D400 ever showing up. EVER!:D

Mmmmm Dreams can sometimes come true, but I'm not going to get too excited yet! Lol Besides I just got the D7100 to fill in until something like the D400 comes out, and is out long enough to sort through the bugs in it! Lol :)

But man this is a camera that I've been watching for, if they put modern tech in the awesome D300 frame! :D

I'm trying to understand the desire to cover the hot shoe. Maybe the edges catch on things, and it irritates some people?
Someone once brought a camera into the department that had one of the hot shoe rails bent inward after the camera took a hard drop; making it impossible to attach the flash. We applied some gentle persuasion via a screwdriver to fix it but a hot shoe cover would have prevented it (most likely).

That's understandable then. I thought maybe it was just for looks, which would be silly.

I just looked up D400 on Google to see what was up, and it looks real to me. I hope it is released.

I won't be buying a DSLR until the spring, so it's all film until then, and I'm aching to buy an F100 and an F4 ASAP.

By the time I can buy digital, the D400 should be available, or it's just a pipe dream. I'm still torn between a D7200 and a D750, but I wonder if the D750 will have its successor by then, and the price will have dropped by a few hundred $$$. $2079 at Amazon.ca seems like the best price.

The D750 is a great camera..And does not matter if later there is a D760. Glass is just as important. They are $1999 all day long. Go for it. I payed the $2300 for mine.

I'll probably eat crow in a few months, but it seems to me that everyone waiting for a D400 is like waiting for a Beatles reunion. Even if it happens, it won't be the same. Time has moved on. Why should Nikon make a pro DX body? Anyone using the last generations of Nikon DX or even low end FX has gotten used to the current layout and would not want the old D300 ISO/WB/etc controls moved. Especially if you have multiple bodies (like me). Sure, I'd like a faster frame rate and a bigger buffer, but I can't have everything and I'm not willing to sacrifice FX to get it. But that's me and I've been drinking......
