I was going to inquire as to which lens you were using. I loved all of your shots they were fantastic. 300 2.8 huh. Did you use a teleconverter for many of the shots?

Are you sure you don't work for National Geographic as a wildlife photographer? All those are just stunning! Love them all, Billy! Great work!

Hi Tami and thank you. To answer your question I did use the 1.7 teleconverter with the 300 on almost all of the animal shots. It makes it an f4.5, but still has good IQ.

If only I did....I bet they have all kinds of nice gear there photojournalists get to borrow. :) Thanks Jack!

Hi Marilynne,
That is a Lantern we bought at a fireworks stand. You light it and it kind of floats around a glows like a hot air balloon. Serious fire hazard though as the balloon is just paper, you have to keep a close eye on it if there is anything flammable around, like dry grass or forests.

Thank you Kodiak, and yes it has worth! I was just checking out your website - are you living in Deutschland? You have some very nice images, I think the title "pro" fits you very well. My wife and I have relatives in Munchen and Augsburg. We used to go over every other year for a 2-3 week tour, but then we had a baby and we haven't been back since. I think we are about due. Thank you again for the encouraging comments.

Hi Billy,

Na… Deutschland ist es nicht, aber Österreich!
No… not Germany but Austria!

I'm am just giving to César…

I did not want to use any label or tag such as pro but my sons convinced me that,
though I am a pro in real life, I am at nikonites as serious amateur. I love to go
out for a walk whith some arsenal to shoot playing kids, new flower beds, fighting
dogs and what not. Being a pro is pretty irrelevant in this pleasure.

Maybe you want to have a look at the groups bellow…

Thanks for the treats,

This one of the Rams was shot just before sunrise at ISO 3200 with the D700! A little NR in lightroom but even at 4 years old it is still a superb low light camera.

Thanks Helene, I am lucky to be in a state that has 2 National parks in it. I have to keep telling myself that during the 8 months of winter and rain that we get, but I guess thats what keeps it green in the summer. :)

Welcome back, Billy. Nice shots...all of them. You're just due south of me here in Alberta. I suspect we look at the same mountain range. ;)
