Z8 washed out colors on standard settings

You can adjust the Saturation on the Camera Standard Profile... Have you done that? In fact, you can create your own "Standard" camera profile by adjusting any one of 8 parameters, 5 of which have to do with exposure/color parameters...

    My first experience with MPB

What I meant was... with regard to presentation, really... I'm a bit weird. I save all the original packaging from my stuff, so when I sell it...it gets cleaned and sold in all the original packaging... Same when I buy stuff from MPB, i only buy items that list the original packaging and...

    My first experience with MPB

I found the same... You do need to do your due diligence with eBay though... but if you're patient and diligent, you can get about 30% more off eBay than by selling to the various vendors...

why no focus motor in an FTZ adapter?

It can't be ignored that Nikon, until the most recent quarter, has lost money (a lot of money) for the last couple of years. Whether we like it or not, their decision process is prioritized by what they can produce and sell... NOT by what might seem feasible to a few.

why no focus motor in an FTZ adapter?

I didn't say they were rubbish. I use an FTZ II with a couple of F mount lenses... The Z mount opened a new opportunity for newer lens designs that take advantage of higher resolution sensors... Sony has been eating Nikon's lunch in the "sharp image" category for a long time...

why no focus motor in an FTZ adapter?

There are just so many improvements in the Z camera's focusing, stabilization and sensor resolution designs, that it's really silly trying to make older lenses work other than some nostalgic desire for a particular film type look with lens flare and old-timey color contrasts... Nikon should have...

why no focus motor in an FTZ adapter?

If you're going to go to a mirrorless camera, you need to get your mind right and start dumping those old D lenses and start buying the new S lenses... Why would you buy a jet engine airplane and then cry because you can't use your old propellers????? :D That's about the equivalency of what...

    D500 pixel density

Shooting "aviation" is more about the lens than the camera body... in my experience. Planes don't move as fast as birds, but they don't get close either so you're swinging a 200mm+ lens around...

Looking for a macro flash bracket

Those are not "flash" lights... they're constant lights that can be adjusted for brightness... better ones can adjust color temps... Have you looked at Ring flashes???

Post Your Black and Whites Photos!!

This was actually an experiment. I filmed a brief few seconds (30 or so) of just scanning my desk with my Z7II in 4K video mode, and then pulled a single frame out of that video... while the camera was using the Monochrome Camera Profile.

Looking for something more portable on a budget

    I bought a Z7II w/24-200 z f4, a 24-70 f4, and a TTartisan 50mm f2 for less than $3000 US... I sold a Nikkormat Ftn, D300, D750, and D850 for $3k, and a bunch of D series lens and F mount lenses for another $3k... Those 4 pieces cover the entire dozen or lenses and bodies... Any combination of...

    Dumb question

Put an SD card in the camera, take a picture...It should save whatever images are in memory, at that point to the SD card.

Looking for something more portable on a budget

With a concerted effort and plan, you can sell ALL that junk on eBay, and convert ALL of that to cash... sufficient to buy a new Z camera (Used w/warranty) with a pancake lens and the combination is new technology that total weight and portability that is 1/3 of any combination of camera/lens...

    Nikkor Z 28mm 2.8

I just sold one on eBay... It wasn't what I would call stellar... It's biggest PLUS is weight. incredibly light... incredibly plasticy too... I'm very gentle and protective of my gear. I sell my stuff after a decade as used like-new in the original packaging. I didn't think that lens was going...
