Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close)
This particular portrait is a little peculiar. The lady didn't want to look at the camera because she thought it should have been her husband on the picture. He was the piano player but he passed away around 10 months ago. It felt a little strange.
This is a close-up of the clarinet my late father brought back from the second world war when he was stationed in Germany.
Apparently he got it in exchange for canadian cigarettes. The instrument itself has always had attraction to me, but even more for the case with it's latches. This is why I...

3 flower shots I did coming back from the strawberry picking. All taken with my plastic $50 28-80 3.3-45 G lens...
I think that you forget to play around with the image once it has gone through HDR. Here is my version of your latest flower HDR shot. I thought it just needed more contrast, saturation, definition.

Well they just had the opening of the new concert hall where I work for the summer.
With the present challenge, I just couldn't resist with these teasers:
New Hall
Pianist Andre Laplante rehearsing before opening concert held tonight.

All I had time to do was this one today. Really no room to move back, light was terrible, but it's what I got.
Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close)
This is today's piano people shot. The whole family except the father. Not enough light and me, too lazy to get the flash out, I ran out of dof.
I like the 70-300, but since I got the 70-200 2.8, I'm sold to it. It's expensive, heavy, but is it ever sharp…
Here's a crop from yesterday's shoot with the D700:

Last night's concert was great but there isn't much light at these things. I had to take the iso to 8000. But, all things considered, I'm happy with some of my shots (the microphone was the culprit that prevented me to get more keepers).

Thanks for the comments AxeMan. but, generally speaking, they go sharp during the summer months (no strings attached) :)
But today is back to piano people. This one was right on pitch when the picture was taken.
I'll be shooting a live concert...
Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close)
It's all AxeMan's fault. He's the one that saved my day by giving me this idea of the tool case pic. Thanks Rick. But my tools are different. :)

Another rainy day. This will be my picture for today since I'll have to drive to the airport to pickup my girlfriend who's coming back from europe. I hope some of you get better weather than we've had for the last few days.
D7000, 70-200 VRII...
An eye in the sky.
Marcel's hobby is powered chutes. He has one which he flies solo and a tandem. I happened to spot him while I was driving to the greenhouse, stopped the car, took a few shots and then followed him to his landing spot where I took the portrait. I hope I don't get disqualified...
