City lights from the inside of the car on a rainy night

Hot from the sd card, here comes "city lights" :) Taken from my driver's seat on this rainy night, I had to use 2 different pictures blended in CS 5 to convey the feeling I was after.

Went to watch the white geese but didn't have all my gear. So I used my light 28-200 Tamron that I got for 125$ on eBay. Even with severe cropping, it still gets pictures with the D7000. It's in no way comparable to the 70-200 though, but is it ever lighter to carry in a small bag...

As much as the original is sharper, it still lacks character. I think the light isn't there to make the texture come out. It seems the flower is flatly lit and there is a lack of contrast and texture. It's still a rose, but it does not stand out of the background. I took the liberty of working...
