    Zf Released!

We are thinking a little bit alike. I am going to keep the Zeiss 15mm. I am hard-set on my next lens being a Z14-24mm f/2.8 as that is a real hole in my kit. The Tamron 90mm and Sigma 20mm can go at any point currently. The 28-105mm is permanently attached to the IR D600. I want to hold the D750...

    D610 firmware upgrade blues

The Snapbridge app by Nikon would normally be how a camera is remotely controlled by a smartphone or tablet. But the D610 is too old to do that trick. The D750 is one of the earlier camera bodies that does work by wifi with Snapbridge. You can do some simple things like change shutter or f-stop...

    Rollback Nikon D3500

Food for thought: The lens also has firmware. I don't even know if that lens is compatible with the Sigma Dock to allow a user change of firmware. It could be possible you must have the original lens you lost to work.

Z8 washed out colors on standard settings

I apply the "D750 Standard" profile to my Z5 photos. The colors even look more accurate.

    Zf Released!

For the body, only a seasonal part time job. But changing to Z-mount glass might require some smuggling on the side.

why no focus motor in an FTZ adapter?

It is just my speculation, but I think the first FTG has that squared-off bottom because that is exactly where they put the AF servo motor in the D80-D7xxx series DSLR. I suspect they tried it in prototype and had a reason to delete the motor. It may have been an imposed price limit, it may have...

why no focus motor in an FTZ adapter?

Fair enough. You were complaining to Nikon about something they undoubtedly considered and rejected years ago. I too did think it could have been done. But the signs have been there to read that Nikon wanted to move on from the old screw drive autofocus lenses. This is a question that will...

why no focus motor in an FTZ adapter?

They do it better with focus peaking. It literally draws a color highlight around the items in focus in the frame. In the middle or out in the corners.

why no focus motor in an FTZ adapter?

Not only Sony but Canon also upped their lens sharpness game with RF mount.

why no focus motor in an FTZ adapter?

I too think it could have been implemented if Nikon wanted. Actually the first generation FTZ had that extended squared-off bottom that I strongly suspect contained the autofocus servo motor in prototype stage and was deleted as it was developed. But looking at the prices of things, it appears...

    Your thoughts

Yeah, at 50mm it would be disappointing. Those kind of images are normally shot at 24mm or wider, and f/2.8 or wider if available. But the secret is that you don't do it with a single exposure. Between the movement of the earth making the stars turn into trails and the need of long time...

    Your thoughts

Oh, there is stacking done alright. Done behind the scene inside the iphone on the first level.

    Your thoughts

There is also post-processing with GIMP on the first 3 according to the Exif. What we do not know is how many images were stacked to make these. They are good photos and likely comparable to what a real camera could have captured in the same night and conditions, I expect. Now would the...

    D500 pixel density

That pixel density is a low consideration when shooting high-speed subjects with telephoto lens. All sharpness of the image depends on how steady the camera is held and how fast the shutter speed is.

    Zf firmware update (already!)

I think it would be very important to have the live view display show correctly under all conditions!

There also is a substantial difference in burst mode shutter release for all those action wildlife photos.

Looking for something more portable on a budget

Rereading the thread, I'm not sure there will be a right answer for you. You tried a ZF out and because of that any lesser system is not a consideration. I have had the D750 and a D7000 at the same time, the sizes are very close to each other. A D7200 would be also of similar size. Now we would...

Looking for something more portable on a budget

Have you outright rejected DX format Z mount bodies? Z50 is a more compact option and the ZFc even loses the extra grip area. I would say it would still be an upgrade to some beater D7200.
