Nikon D800 at Night in Las Vegas

I can't say enough about how pleased I was shooting at night in Las Vegas recently with the Nikon D800. All hand-held, no tripod. It is unreal the sensitivity and quality of the sensor even pushing to 4000 ISO shooting f2.8 with the 50 mm 1.4G.

    Kid/angel portrait

Nice image of a lovely subject. Since it is however by its nature a high key image, I would have lightened it up a bit more to give it more of an ethereal quality. Below is my version. Also I think the color balance is too far in the flesh tones. Since she is looking down, lighting helps to...

    Preparation for wedding photography

Re: Preperation for wedding photography Hi Scott, personally I would have the 16-35mm on the D600 and the 85 mm on the D800E. Then both cameras with flash units (SB-800 is my own preference) with something like this: Notice how I have it facing backwards as I use it purely for bounce flash...

    Zeiss Lenses of the future...

This is really interesting to compare the Nikon 85mm 1.4g with the Zeiss 55 1.4 Otus lens: Same distortion, same vignetting, same light transmission, the Zeiss has only 1 µm less chromatic aberration, but where the Zeiss really shines is in its resolution of 29P-Mpix versus 22P-Mpix on the...

Problem with Lexar 32 GB 1000x CF card

So I never had any problems with my D800 before using a Lexar 32 GB 1000x SD card. I thought I would fill in that second CF slot with a nice card for wedding shooting and got the Lexar 32 GB 1000x CF card. Sooo, I set the primary card as CF and secondary as SD. During a long shoot, there are...

    First HR digital wedding

So I shot my first wedding in terms of higher resolution digital. I had shot weddings before but not with a full set of digital equipment. I shot around 1300 images in 4 hours so that's around 5.4 images per minute on average. Shot with a mix of the D800 and D7000 with the D800 running the...

    Indoor People Shots

I'd say aperture priority so you can shoot wide open and then control the aperture. Also are you going to use some kind of diffuser on the flash or bounce it? I use this setup:
