Interesting data from my Youtube channel

I'll not hold my breath. Slideshows are not exactly a popular type of video. Add to that I won't even begin to comment on whether my images are good enough to attract a lot of interest. I could probably greatly increase my viewership by coming up with eye-catching clickbait titles. My buddy...

Interesting data from my Youtube channel

I have a small Youtube channel that is basically slideshows with royalty free music using my macro and wildlife images. I started it to be able to post a slideshow here on a slideshow thread, and kept at it so that friends and family could follow my photography, and occasionally add new content...

    Went to the gym today

Well, after over a week I have seen a pattern emerge. In the last 10 days I've been to the gym 7 times. I've spent about 45 minutes each visit on the treadmill, adjusting the speed and incline to the high end of my target heart rate (85% of my max heart rate). I then spend enough time on three...

It's normal to see some camera shake with long focal lengths.

Trying my hand at dragonflies in flight

Went out today with the CNPA outing. Tried a few different settings, and a different lens. Some things worked and some didn't. I managed to get some in flight shots that were fairly sharp. I probably needed to be a little closer, or a little longer on the focal length, as I had to crop them...

    Silversnapper's Happy Snaps

I often take shots of insects and then discover another much smaller insect in the shot when I edit it.

Trying my hand at dragonflies in flight

Went back out to Cypress Gardens this morning to take some more dragonfly pictures. I was using my 200-500 in order to get some distance and had it mounted on my Z8. After taking a number of shots, I decided to try using the prerelease capture feature and try and capture some shots in flight. It...

    Silversnapper's Happy Snaps

You gotta learn to sneak up on em! Seriously, bees don't stay in one place for very long at all. Cool mornings can improve your odds. They move a little slower when it's cool. Be careful about quick movements when approaching. I've had some critters be very comfortable with me being quite...

    D1X

That is the EN-EL4 battery. If you click on the "compatibility" link in the description, it doesn't list the D1x. This 3rd party battery pack on Amazon lists it as being used for the D1x. No idea how good, or compatible it is, just what is in the description. Amazon

    Went to the gym today

Mainly what I am looking to do is build more muscle mass to burn more sugar. I'm 71 and have been married since Ford was president, so I've no need to look like Arnold. They have a whole bunch of different machines there, but I'm trying to keep it simple, especially at first. I went again...

    Needa's Insipid Images

You could try F16 or F22, if you don't particularly want to do a stack. Focusing a little past the window should help, as well.

    Went to the gym today

I cancelled my gym membership 2 years ago after they told me I couldn't wear jeans in the gym. They didn't tell me that when I had joined a couple months prior. Anyway, in the meantime My A1C has gone up and my waistline has gone out. The daily walk through the neighborhood isn't cutting it...

why cant i take photos in M or A mode

What settings are you using? If you have your aperture very small, say F22 or F32, it will allow very little light through to the sensor. Try setting your camera to M and set it to F8 and 1/500 sec with an ISO of 100 and try a test shot in bright sunlight.

    Robin's Life Birds

When I had a squirrel, I mean bird, feeder in my back yard I had a lot of carolina wrens visiting. I see them with some regularity when out in the field shooting.

    Feed back on black birds.

The preview isn't that much different, but, you don't have to go through putting the camera in LV. Not sure about some of the other models, but my D3400 has a long delay between pressing the shutter button and having the shutter actually release. It sounds like the mirror goes back down, and...

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets

The thistles are just starting to open. I didn't plant these, a couple just came up last year, in the middle of the wildflowers and so, didn't get mowed down. I've got a bumper crop of them this year. I swear they attracted more insects than any other species I had growing. This wasp was...

    Feed back on black birds.

This is where the mirrorless cameras really shine IMO. You get a nice preview of the exposure in the viewfinder. For example, I know that with white birds in sunlight I'm going to have to give it anywhere between 1.0 - 2.5 stops of underexposure to avoid blowing out the highlights in the birds...

    Bracketing Problems

If you are stacking them into an HDR, you will need to "auto-align" them regardless of how much they appear to the eye to be properly lined up. It is a very easy, one step, process in Photoshop. If you are using Lightroom to merge them, there is a box for "auto-align" at the top of the pop up...
