Moving forward, please note the change/addition to the Weekly/Monthly rules ... any images submitted that are created from composites, all images used must be taken by you with a Nikon body and also be taken during the dates of the challenges/assignments. Thanks for your understanding. :)

February 2024 Monthly Assignment: Something You Love

February 2024 Monthly Assignment: Something You Love (Cindy's choice) Since February has the holiday Valentine's Day, choose anything you love. It doesn't have to be a romantic type of love. It can be a vehicle, pet, person, a scene you love to see, food, etc. Or you can opt for the traditional...

    Woody's 2024 Photon Collection Project

Great collection of images, Woody. So I see you are still making use of your D7200. I kept one of mine and use it from time to time (well, not much since having two rotator cuff surgeries in the past year). It's a great body with its performance.

    hark 2023

On December 23rd, I saw a group of swans and took a few photos. Then when I stopped on December 24th, I was really surprised to see this one floating with its wings out. It reminds me of a Lenox swan. And even when I returned on Christmas Day, it continued to float with its wings out. I've never...

What camera really got you going with photography?

I started out with a Yashica rangefinder. It took 35mm film but had its limitations. From there I purchased a Minolta XG-M 35mm manual camera. When I decided to move to an AF camera, that's when I made the change to Nikon 35mm with the Nikon N70 and N90s (I still have them). Then the D90 was my...

    Getting a 'hard' look?

What are you using for editing? If it's Llightroom or Camera RAW, they have profiles such as Camera Standard or Adobe Vivid. Each one produces a different amount of contrast and color as soon as it is chosen. But those images are a higher contrast.

This concrete artwork wall was also located in the same parking lot as the airplane.

I was searching for a state park and saw this along the way. It's mounted on a pole and seems to be a weather vane. It moves with the breeze.

Weekly Photo Challenge December 6th - December 12th "Street Corners"

If you legitimately took the image during the dates/times listed and if it was taken with a Nikon camera, you can still use a film image. Please just include the pertinent info such as camera model and date taken along with the image. That is still acceptable. Thanks!

    Slow connection

I haven't uploaded much so cannot comment on that, but Woody's thread had images loading slowly over the past couple of days. When looking at that thread now, it seems to be fine. I had even double-checked my download speed (which was fine). I'm not experiencing any issues now though.

October Monthly: Darkness or A Dark Mood **Top Six**

I spent time earlier today getting this posted only to be told by Needa and Marilynne that they couldn't see the Top Six thread. They mentioned I hid it so well, they couldn't find it. So I start to create an entirely new thread only to receive a prompt that I have a saved draft. Didn't even...

It definitely makes it so much easier. There were times I had to back up because I was too close for the minimum focusing distance.

Why didn't I start using this earlier?

I use Aperture Priority for most of my photos. U2 is programmed with BBF with Continuous Focus, Manual Mode, and Auto ISO. So when I come across a moving subject, U2 switches me into BBF while Aperture Priority is used with the shutter button focusing.

    hark 2023

Last weekend I tried photographing a falconry session. I've done them in the past (this was my first in 11 months), but with my shoulder issue, I had to use a monopod. That worked fine for stationery images, but when the hawk was flying, it was pretty much impossible to lock focus. NOW I...

Anyone owned both the D7200 and D7100?

Oh ... and will add one more comment: I never tried a D8x0 series body, but I do remember hearing that a person's technique has to be really good. Any little movement when pressing the shutter actuation button will show up as a slight image softness. The larger megapixel bodies are great for...
