    Post your latest purchases.

Last week I purchased a 5TB WD portable hard drive for my iMac which just arrived. I'm in the process of switching from a PC and have several Windows hard drives. This one was even less last week than it is now...

What to do with AF Nikkor 20mm f2.8 which has developed a haze?

If the lens works fine and only has haze, the lens should be able to be taken apart and the lens elements cleaned. If Nikon won't do it, there are many camera repair centers worldwide that should be able to help. This is one used by Allen's Camera when I purchased a preowned Nikon 35mm body from...

    Cause(s) of soft images

When you view the images on the back of the screen after taking them, a red square will show the focus point. The square will still be there even if you take a number of pics and go back through them.

    Cause(s) of soft images

I don't have that body, but on my DSLR's, there is an option for the focus point to be illuminated during playback. If you have that option, consider turning it on. I've been surprised with my own where I put a point directly on a face only to have the dot display next to the face on the brush...

    Cause(s) of soft images

When I did my AF calibration, I printed out Steve Perry's chart. The chart is in this link. https://backcountrygallery.com/get-nikons-auto-af-fine-tune-system/

    New Forum

Me, too. Perhaps the forum doesn't display for everyone exactly the same, but this is what I see. I layered both images into one Photoshop file, and when I cropped, both colors got cropped at the same time. The view with the Nikonites logo has more color at the top due to the logo itself (just...

    New Forum

I'm seeing a dark olive green, not the black that I remember. Anyone else see that color? It's visible on both my calibrated computer and my phone.

    Should I replace my tripod?

Nice shots. When I take falconry photos, I tend to keep my shutter speed at least 1/2000" because I tend to be extremely close to the raptor. When I'm further away, I can usually get away with 1/1600". Are you using Manual Mode with Auto ISO? When I use it, I choose my aperture and shutter...

    Should I replace my tripod?

It looks great and appears to be quite functional. If the plastic parts are a concern, you could always opt to purchase them now. I have two Gitzo tripods ... one aluminum (the one I use the most) and one carbon fiber. Both are series 2 tripods and both have plastic parts. Good luck with it!

    Woody's Vea La Luz 2023

I've found this works best for wildlife when I shoot, too. Wait ... why are you stating it in meters? Are you a UK transplant? 😄

    Should I replace my tripod?

It's probably best suited for real estate and architectural photography where precise leveling is important and where it can be used quickly and often. But it isn't a feature I'd want myself unless it was a need and I earned big bucks. No doubt there is a market for it.

    Should I replace my tripod?

This just showed up in my Facebook news feed today. A Benro self-leveling tripod that hasn't yet hit the market. Do you want a BIG step up from your Bogen Manfrotto? :)
