    TC-16a autofocusing teleconverter

It worked nearly perfect today with the 300mm f/2.8. The iso was pretty high on these and I had full 1.5x1.3 crop going. I should have used a flash with the gnome. Can' wait until I'm off nights and can find some birds. If I get up early enough I'll shoot with 400mm f/3.5 tomorrow and maybe...

    TC-16a autofocusing teleconverter

These a little better but should have used a circular polarizer for the golf course (is it just me or does grass seem to reflect a ton of light). Included are some golfers and I caught a chip with ball in the air at several football fields. The last couple photos the Mustang pictures has a lot...

    TC-16a autofocusing teleconverter

I have a new toy to play with. It appears to front focus just a bit and I have not had a chance to calibrate the focus yet (the camera reads it is an auto focus lens). I shot with a 300mm f/4.5 (@f/4.5) set at infiinity with 1600 iso because it was kind of dark each evening I played with it -...

    super zoom

I'm interested in how this turns out for you. I did something similar to take pictures of Osprey 700 or 800 yards away and it just didn't turn out well. From a practical standpoint, something like a crop sensor camera, 400mm f/3.5 lens with a pair of tc300s stacked in series is probably...

How to size up a macro lens?

I've taken some bug shots with a 300mm f/4.5 edif. I have an extension tube just showing up in the mail that seems to have cut the minimum distance in half. Here is without and this weekend I'll catch a bug with the sun out using the extension tube.

    Post your Moths & Butterflies

All I had was a 300 f4.5 for warbler shooting and no extension tubes. Macro shooting at 10 feet leaves something to be desired.

    Post your Moon Shots

D7100 and 400mm f3.5 no cropping. First two with a 1.4 and 2.0 stacked teleconverters. The rest were just with 2.0. I should have left them off and cropped. Oh well I get another chance in 33 years. I should have really just used a 300mm f4.5 with a tc200 - stupid photographer am I.

    Post your Raptors

I didn't think I had time to put on a circular polarized filter. I hate taking pictures off grass with it sunny out.

    Post your Hummingbird Photos

Here are some hummingbird pics. Most shot with 300mm f/2.8 handheld (until my arms turned to butter and switched to f/4.5) These were from inside with a 300mm f/2.8. If someone knows a good trick to shoot thru black fiberglass window screen let me know. The processing turned them olive.

Tamron 15-30 VC, post your shots

Here are some from Rockbridge, MO (very dark) My astrophotography is improving. These were D7100 ISO 6400 15mm setting and 20 sec shutter. The light from the gas around the MW was so bright it interfered with exposure. I saved the raws to send to someone that knows what they are doing to...

Tamron 15-30 VC, post your shots

Astro Pictures at Kinkaid Lake Spillway (dark spot). no stacking and minimal lightroom work (color temp to auto, contrast, and exposure) = the upper left is a 300mm f4.5 shot the rest are Tamron 15-30 set at 15 with iso between 1600 and 6400 and 30 sec shutter (a bit too long for crop sensor) -...

    Let's see some reptiles...

We had to catch and hold him to confirm whether or not a Massasauga Rattlesnake at a work site. It was just a Fox Snake and we moved him somewhere safe. This was taken with a D7100 and Nikon 28-85mm macro.

Tamron 15-30 VC, post your shots

I took this last night off my front porch. I'm 50 miles SE of O'Hare airport and you can see a 747 sneaking into the picture from the bottom left. This was around midnight 15mm , f/2.8, iso 100, 30 second shutter speed. I really wish my neighbors would cool it on the exterior lighting.

    moon shot

This is not retouched or cropped. My lens has a stripped out threaded hole and had to rest on top of car. It was a D5200 with a 400mm f/3.5 and stacked tcs (1.4 and 2x)

    Nikon D5300 question

I bought a special lens that is essentially a spotting scope. It is 800 to 1600mm very cheap and looks awesome thru the viewfinder (at 500 yards the flagstick on a golf green fills screen top to bottom). I use this for spotting Osprey nests for which it is very good. My issue is that the...
