1/52
Wasn't sure how I was going to start. Was on a different assignment (so to speak) and found this old hand operated water pump just beggin' me to shoot it.
So, here is "Old"
"Flash" - Shootraw's & Felisek's Choice
Note about the combined choice: @ShootRaw and @Felisek tied in the final round voting of the City Lights Challenge. The Challenge Team, after much discussion, opted to declare them co-winners of the challenge and let each pick a topic. The idea being...
EV -6
Same shot focused on the window, which I think I like better. Also at EV -6, f/2.8 @ 8 minutes (480.8 seconds to be precise), which brings me to a thought to add, that the actual calculated precise shutter speed for using f/2.8 at EV -6 is 512 seconds.
Nice shot.
Besides the WB off just a bit, the sky is a little blown out for me. I would process to pull some more detail from the clouds in this direction, which if you like, you can do better with the original than I did with the small JPEG.
EV -6
I figure go for the tough one first. This is EV -6 using f/2.8 @ 8 minutes. A night shot naturally, looking thru a window, thru the trees to a parking lot lit by overhead lights. The near trees were lit by a post lamp at camera right.
@traceyjj
I may have said this already and I may say it again (being forgetful as I am careless to be), but fine job on inspiring the 52 Projects for 2015. There is some fine photography appearing in the threads.
Flickr has a "Share this Photo" button that looks like a curving arrow and shows to the right when viewing a single photo.
Click the Share button and this dialog pops up. Select BBCode, set the size you want (red arrow) and copy the code (blue circle) and paste in your post here.
Shot a slew, a whole passel of photos in the fading sunlight New Years Eve. Like several of them, but I keep coming back to this little sunlit patch of tranquility.
My laptop has an intermittent communication issue with the wide world of web. Ordinarily, stuff happens, and I plod along and eventually figure it out or an update solves the issue or I forget and life goes on. This one is beginning to annoy a bit more and it messes with my viewing pleasure...
My best is always the one I enjoyed creating and the one that I could see before the shot, maybe not the exact detail, but the story the shot would tell. That is when I know I made the difference.
I also cannot escape from waxing/waning light and the transformation of the world as the sun sets...
Almost missed the sunrise and just couldn't move to the other side of the trees (or the window), but this is what 2015 looked like from the where I first saw it.
OK. Same tree. Used 6 shots with 2 horizontal and 3 vertical, just to see what could be done. Think they should have been overlapped more, maybe cut down on the distortion at the bottom. Does seem to give a better idea of the size of the tree.
I count 22 participants in the 52 for 2015 Project and I think we have a few more that have not started a thread yet. Think we're going to have some fun next year and see some good works.
Good job pushing to get this going @traceyjj :applouse:
Thought about just adding these as techniques and settings to be used on my Nikonites 52, but then thought it would be good to have a separate thread.
- Planning to work with a technique/setting (on and off) for a week and post one or a few images that seem to work.
- May use some of the same...
