    Adjusting out an unwanted Highlight!

This is what I really like about post processing. There are different ways to do something. I liked @Scott Murray 's approach so tried one. This is with the LR adjustment brush reducing exposure and clarity on the background going for the look that the background was more in the shade. Then...

@Philnz is still having issues. Cannot reply to a thread. Time thingy keeps twirling. Same with IE , GC, or FF PM him if you have any ideas.

Post your low light long exposures

Since this here is a picture thread, here's my latest no light looooongg exposure. It is ISO 100 f/3.2 at 10 minutes 49 seconds. Just amazes me how bright the light is in a dark room.

    Eyelight's Technique 52 for 2015

EV -5 Same light sources as the last EV -6 shot, so we can see that 1 stop less exposure is closer to what was needed in the darkness. f/4 @ 8 minutes and 34 seconds <<Should be 32 but I was asleep at the switch.

    Eyelight's Technique 52 for 2015

One more EV -6 before we move on. The enlightening thing about these long exposures is how little light it takes and how well the modern digital sensor performs. The light for this shot was a combination of street light coming thru closed shades across the room and the laptop screen which was...

I Need Help Removing "Racoon Eyes"

OK. Here we go. A combination of cloning and healing, with a few adjustments in LR in an attempt to lessen the impact of the shadows. You can cheat on the left shadows because hard to tell precisely how the light would spill, but the right is too much of a line from the hair. Nowhere near...

Post your 'before' and 'after' pictures

Like the thread. Here's one that came to mind. Before After I went cheap on the how-to by snipping the LR history. In reverse order just in case anyone perusing is not familiar with LRs history dialogue.

    January Monthly contest

Just a note for what it is worth. It took roughly 20 minutes to parse the finalist and post the poll for the weekly challenge tonight. There were: 13 entries 2 Yellow Bannered 10+Likes 1 with 8 likes 3 with 7 likes 2 with 6 likes I counted the 8 and the 7's several times to make sure the 8...

    January Monthly contest

I think if it were an easy thing to do, would probably have been done. Marcel has offered a way forward a couple times. The poll system as it is only accepts 20 options that have to be all loaded at once and you either get one vote or can vote for all choices. I'm sure there is a better...

    January Monthly contest

It's kind of uncanny how that worked out, because it was the first one I stopped to count. Longer names and shorter names make it harder. A name with a break will trip you up because it looks like two names. That may be what happened, counting Tom Grove as two names. The kicker is the more...

    January Monthly contest

Well, the first one I checked was the first yellow banner in the thread which was post #6 and I counted 10 likes. So, maybe not so good. Though, I did count it about 4 times to make sure before I replied, which is the same thing that happens in challenge thread, when there are several close...

    January Monthly contest

I suggest anyone interested in counting likes wander back to the August Monthly Assignment and go through the 16 pages and count likes making certain you don't miscount and short change someone. If a few of you would do that, it would be interesting to compare like counts for all 150+/- entries.

    January Monthly contest

My mention of the 12 points was not aimed at the Monthly Assignment. I was saying we could discuss a more formal competition if members wanted, but it would be separate from the Monthly Assignment.

    January Monthly contest

Y'all all ain't listening very well, so I've plucked a few key notes from the thread above. The Monthly Assignment is not a good format to end up with a winner easily. There are too many entries over too many weeks and it multiplies the time involved. I'm just guessing it is 15-20 times...
