    Needa's Abysmal Attempts!

Needa is probably just trying to attract insects, using native wild plants, in order to get some good insect macro shots. Sounds like a good reason to me. Hey, I just got through digging up a section of grass in my backyard in order to do a fall planting of wildflowers to have them ready to...

    Level Missing in Viewfinder

There is an option under Custom Settings/Shooting/Display for displaying a grid pattern in the EVF and backscreen. It is item D8 for the Z50. On my Z5 and 7ii it displays 3 equidistant lines both horizontally and vertically, so the center horizontal line is centered. I'm pretty sure it's the...

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets

Thought I'd make a few changes to that first image to make it look more like the early morning shot it was. I think I like the sea section better, but perhaps I took the rocks too low. It does look a little brighter in LR and photo viewer than it does posted. OK, if I click on the posted image...

    Car photos

Save a copy of your image at something like 1200 pixels. I don't use LR mobile, but the other LR programs have a custom option when you export. You can choose your file type and size, and several other parameters. This will bring your file size down considerably.

I will occasionally use a non standard aspect ratio when an image seems to need it. I do generally stick to 3:2 and horizons on thirds, or middle for reflection images. I'm not married to it, but I seldom find that horizons off those placements look right to me. That may be just me. I do...

    Hello everyone

Welcome. I remember the camping trip I took to the mountains around Spokane during January many years ago. AKA Survival School. The mountains were beautiful, but a tad chilly. First night in the field was 17 below. That was a wakeup call for a Florida boy. Looking forward to seeing some of...

16:9 might be better. I was trying to keep the horizon on a third, so not sure that would change the mood much. Here are some 16:9 crops, the first one is keeping the horizon at the third line, this may be the best crop IMO. This one moves the horizon up, but I find that placement awkward...

    Post your latest purchases.

I'm still driving my 25 yr old car so I can afford to have some Nikon equipment. My camera bag contents is worth several times more than my car. It's all about priorities. ;)

Just think of how much Nikon equipment you could have bought with what you paid for something that just gets you from point A to point B.

Ken Rockwell rates it very high. Here is a link to his comparison of Nikon's full frame midrange zooms in the Z flavor. Midrange zoom comparison

    Woody's 2024 Photon Collection Project

Tough choice, they are all very good. I suppose #3 would be it, if I had to choose. Love the soft texture look of the water. I have had a few shots that had something similar, although very different colors since there were cypress trees on the shore, so no fall leaf colors.

Well, the Pup and I got up in the middle of the night and drove an hour and a half down to the boneyard beach this morning. The right tides only occur once every 2 weeks or so. There was some rain forecast, but we took a chance on it not being hard enough to interfere. We got down there about...

    Dark shots

I'm a little confused. I know, normal for me. All the pairs of images were taken in program (auto) mode. The lighter ones have several stops more exposure. They are the same scene, and taken seconds apart, with no exposure compensation on any of them. You say you changed the ISO to get the...

Help me Please with my camera

No, it should be easier to sell to a company. The down side is that you probably won't get as much for it, but you won't have to advertise it and deal with people trying to get it for far less than it's worth. Not to mention the issue of meeting a complete stranger with a somewhat high dollar...

F Mount Lenses on Z Camera

I've never had an issue with my F mount lens on my Z5 and Z7ii. I would say that if you are looking to buy new lenses, look hard at the Nikon Z mount versions. They are definitely a cut above. The biggest gaps I see are the lack of some of the more popular focal lengths in affordable models. For...

Help me Please with my camera

You might try talking to a used camera company like MPB or KEH and explain what you have and see what they could do for you with a trade. Of course, you need to be sure it's an IR conversion. You probably won't get as much from selling it to one of these companies, as opposed to selling it...
