OK Marcel this latest piano portrait is something else sir! Composed on the diagonal which is frigging fantastic! Somewhat rare for Marcel piano portraits in that the person is actually tickling the keys...the light the exposure the white balance is perfect nice and golden... A+ on that one sir... :)

Thanks Jeff, I really appreciate your comments. As far as white balance, well I had great help from Photoshop. This was mixed light. There was a huge window behind me and the backlight for the piano and floor was tungsten stage lights. So I had to resort to reduce the yellow saturation and then mask the pianist's face to keep the yellow on him. But I agree that it did turn out good.

Day 78, March 18th

Shot a few today but my most interesting one is of some rocks stuck in ice.

I also like to see the pianist at work (or play). Seeing the interaction between the two subjects makes it more meaningful/natural (to me). You can see the pleasure in his face and get a sense that he is one with the piano.Nice shot!

I'm just curious... If the rocks were stuck in the ice, were they originally planning to go somewhere else, and will they start moving again when the ice thaws?

I have absolutely no idea. I suspect someone put these rocks there while the pond was frozen. Since they are dark, the ice probably thawed and froze around the rocks. So now that spring is here (75 F yesterday) they are ready to sink as soon as there is no ice under them.

Day 79, march 19th

This old broom belonged to my grandfather who was also a piano technician. I had to commemorate him with this picture.

I bet that was put together by hand...and look at how long it has lasted...

I'm sure it was hand made. And I'm quite proud to still be able to use it. It's just nice and got some patina where you hold it. The straw is getting shiny.

Day 80, march 20th,

Just in case I can't go out tonight to shoot some night views of the river, I did this one sitting at my desk just about now. No magic, but it's my today shot for now.

Thanks for your comments Pete and Mike and for all the likes from the others.

This morning light was just super in my back yard. I had to capture a few things. I selected this one and for a change worked with the jpeg out of the camera. Enjoy your day!
