I never get tired of those super shallow DoF images! Musical instruments really seem to lend themselves to this type of shot (i.e. guitars, pianos, sax, etc.) I like how you curled your watermark inside the drum! :)

Thanks James for the comment, always nice to read what others think/see in my shots. I've tried to work with the 35 and leave it on for a few days. It forces me to think outside the box.

Just got my 300 f4 today in the mail. It was too dark for me to go outside + it was raining so I did an abstract in the house.

Oooh! That's a great lens Marcel (I'd love to have one! :)) I'm looking forward to hearing (and seeing) your impressions of it over the coming weeks.

We still have snow up here but I can't wait for the flowers to bloom. I'm going to use it with the extension tubes to do macro. I've seen great shots done with this combination. But it look so so sharp compared to the 70-300 VR at 300. And it focuses close too. I'm a happy camper.

And I just got an invitation to go and try the new D800 and D4 next monday… I hope I won't fall in love with the 800. But at least I'm going to try it out and compare with my 700.

Day 70, March 10th 2012

A few captures from today's work day. I'm very fortunate as I have to travel by car to my customers. So I always have some kind of camera with me, usually a Nikon or two.

I re-worked my piano person pic today. I was not happy with the Photomatix result. I did it with only 2 shots with CS5 merge for HDR function. I think this version looks much better.

The second one is great, more natural. The Photomatix version seemed to "glow" abit, although I do like how it handled the wood grain on the piano.

I like the first one better...look at how it handled the super cool wood floors...the great thing about your photos besides the people that I always look forward to is their typically exquisite home decor...musicians are a different breed of folks period...

Day 71, March 11th 2012

A short walk by the river brought me many things to post. I can't post just one so here are a few. I left with only the D7000 and 300 f4.
