I was just playing around with some of the photos from Sunday

Here is a full shot of the trainer.

And then with a major crop. I prefer this one.

Guess what? …
No portrait today!

The first photo just shows how a mother protects her offspring ...

And I discovered this lovely cluster growing in a pot on the deck.

Too much on my plate today and tonight to worry about my photo so I ran outside and shot a bush of white Alisom. Easy way out but just too busy.
This is with a BIG crop.

"I went down to the woods tonight ... "

I want to up my game and I want to do it quickly so ... more effort and more thought is required. I saw some truly amazing photos of woods and forests and mists and things that just blew me away. That is what I want to be able to do and NZ has the woods and forests to do it in. I need to practice.

So I went down to the local mountain bike track (flat as a pancake for mountain biking but it is what it is and there are trees).
I wanted to practice taking my time. Slowly Lawrence. That means camera settings, lens on manual focus, VR off, remote shutter release, use settings on "A" mode as a guide to manual settings. Take a shot, check histogram, make adjustment, if no adjustments needed (unlikely and didn't happen) change to different settings to get same result.

Compose to show depth and make sure there is something you can make pop in LR.

That sort of thing. You get the picture. The first step on the journey. The second could be predawn return to the same spot to try the same shot in morning light. Could be of interest. Might be some fog. I won't know if I stay in bed will I?

I have quite a few photos that I can play with in Light Room and I think I am getting better. In fact I know I am getting better.

The quest continues although I failed to wake up on time this morning as planned. Normally I wake up at 5.30 (latest) but not today. Only opened the eyes at 6.30 and that was too late.
So this afternoon I took a drive and went for a walk in the hope of "seeing" something. It wasn't easy for some reason. However I did take a few shots and have two for you guys today.

It has been a long day. My first game of golf in over 5 months and I can feel it.
Went to a mate's house afterward for a BBQ and all we got was sausage meat.

A very wet day here which resulted in the International Cricket being abandoned after I had spent $75.00 to get in. Such a waste - one rapid strap gone right there. But my son and DIL had come down for the game so I treated them. We saw about 26 of the scheduled 100 overs (this is of course all foreign to the Americans on here!) before play was stopped and then abandoned.

That's life

Being a glum day I thought I would try some appropriate photos.
Found this bright building in an otherwise grey and drab industrial area.

And a milk factory which gives a fair indication of the overcast conditions.

The reflections of that pink building are cool. The pink really stands out against the grey sky too :D The milk factory is interesting. Reminds me of the sugar mill here. Industrial stuff like that is fascinating and makes for great shots.
