These are far more impressive than my anticipated cremation.
Lakeside Cemetary is a famous burial place for Cleveland's rich and famous..... including President James Garfield, John D. Rockefeller, and Elliot Ness.
Over a hundred years ago, a community of Italian stone cutters made their home next to the cemetery. Actually, to call them
stone cutters is unfair. These people were true artisians with stone sculpting abilities as good as the masters. The headstones and markers they produced are true works of art for which they were paid very little. The majority of the markers I photographed are life-size or larger. Remember that these statues have survived a hundred years, or more, in the wind, snow, rain, and hail. The work of these forgotten artists is worthy of any museum.
