Nice shots Ron. We traveled a short distance on the Blue Ridge, but wasn't in to photography back then. Might have to do it again some time.

Everyone needs to ride this road at least once. It is both tranquil and majestic. It is a balm for whatever may ail you. I am on it at least twice a year. My favorite area is the upland meadows of Southern Virginia. They are so lovely that I often forget to take pictures.

If ever a road could be described as America's longest scenic route it is the Blue Ridge ParkwayView attachment 92500
from scenic viewsView attachment 92501
to stately treesView attachment 92511
and so many flowering shrubs like the ever-present rhodyView attachment 92519
the magnificent flame azaleaView attachment 92524
not to mention the mountain laurelView attachment 92525
Even a short ride don the Parkway is a visual delight.

Nice. I have not been on there in year. Going to have to do that again sometime.

I was lucky enough to grow up knowing the Blue Ridge Parkway as we lived in Roanoke, Virginia and the parkway went right through there! Loved the weekend picnics along the mountains.

Testing out my new {to me} 55mm 2.8 micro ais. Quite pleased with how I can fill my viewfinder to the exact degree I want it to be. Not finding the lack of autofocus that big of a deal._AAA2934 - Version 2 - 2014-06-25 at 12-59-43.jpg

I have always loved poetry and recently thought perhaps I could combine it with my great love of photography. Hence this post. The poem is from the late 15th century, author unknown. All but one of the photos were taken by myself. I shall leave you to ponder which one i did not take.

Thanks Wendy. I think every line of poetry and every line from a song forms a picture in our mind that helps us to relate to the message that the line conveys. Photos can trigger our memory and often remind us of a verse we really liked. But sometime a photo will evoke an emotion for which we have no words.

Dangnabbit! I wish I had thought of that! I'm not a huge poetry guy, but the combination of the words and the photos are very interesting! Great idea!

I'm guessing the bell is the only one you didn't shoot. It doesn't have your watermark.
The photo of that handsome young lad is dated on the back, 1946. That is yours truly at the tender age of 3. My scanner program is adding the watermark. I will have to fix that.

nice detail in your flower shots Ron
Thanks Roy. Flowers are on of my major passions and I try to do them justice. The variety and beauty of flowers are one of the great miracles of this world in which we live. Whenever I look at flowers I am reminded of Loren Eiseley!s wonderful essay on " How flowers changed the world"
