My March to FX is now complete. (If you're playing along at home, you should be hearing the theme song from "The Bridge Over The River Kwai".) I sold my D300, Nikon 17-55 and Sigma 10-20. In the last month, I bought a used D800, ultra-cheap Nikon 28-105, Sigma 12-24 and Tamron 24-70. Now if I can stop traveling for work and have some time, I can actually play with the new toys! At least they look good on my desk! :grumpy:

I'm in the middle of a huge global project and haven't had an opportunity to get out with the new kit. Hopefully tomorrow for a while.

I also bought the ASUS Memo PAD FHD 10....I was saving up for an Ipad Air but prefer Android OS and the fact the asus accepts external memory cards. I just want something to web browse and read the tons of books I have in electronic format.

It is on its way

D7100 DSLR Camera with 18-140mm VR DX Lens

Includes Free Ruggard Commando 36 DSLR Shoulder Bag SanDisk 16GB SDHC Extreme Class 10 UHS-1 Memory Card Watson EN-EL15 Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.0V, 1800mAh)

It was the same price at several stores but the addition of the extra battery made the decision for me. Also it was at B&H Photo Video Digital Cameras, Photography, Camcorders and I have dealt with them before and found them to be reliable.

Congratulations Don. Be interested in how that 18-140 lens can do. It is a very tempting focal length spread. Tokina had a 16-135 but it did not seems to be successful.

Lets see. I recently purchased a Manfrotto 055XPROB. A Vanguard SBH-250. 2 spare batteries for the D610 (aftermarket). And yesterday an 24" Asus monitor for the computer. (great sale price)

I have the 18-105 on my D7000 and I love it. Here is a comparison of the 18-105 vs 18-140

Someone who understands this better than I do and tell me what it means. But to my eye they look very close

Nikkor AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR on Nikon D7100 versus Nikkor AF-S DX Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR on Nikon D7100 - Side by side lens comparison - DxOMark
Very useful link Don. It is interesting to note how different lenses fair on different bodies. That is something to consider on my next lens purchase. Thanks

Nikon 18-140mm is, practically, a revamped 18-135mm - VR added, metal bayonet instead of plastic. Being such, it exhibits the 18-135mm's major problems: very high level of barrel distortion at 18mm (4 degrees, uncorrected), a high level of vignetting and a high level of CA. Nikon 16-85mm DX keeps the number 1 position among the "all-around" DX lenses, followed by 18-70mm (which, alas!, does not have a VR).
But, 18-140mm is still a nice lens for casual shooting...

Yesterday I purchased a cheap (20$) battery replacement for D7000:
