Thanks for the comments. I really appreciate the feedbacks.
Jack, I agree with you for the last picture in post #94. I just was playing around and found it had something, but I might try to work something around that particular session.

The last photo on post #95 was done with the "abstract" challenge in mind. I just used a long exposure and played around with the camera movement and a little bit of zoom. This is where digital shines. I probably could have achieved something similar with film, but I could see my results right away and do more tests while on location.
I'm having fun with this camera and lens combination.

I really like the last tree image, abstract entry?. The bee and flower shot is nice too, great job stoping the bee in flight!

I already had an entry in the abstract challenge. Anyway, I don't do these to win, but to improve my creativity. So even after an entry, I can still continue to work on a particular technique or vision.

Today was kind of a weird day. Snow, rain, clouds, sun, a mixture if I can say.
Did a few shots at the end of the day while the swallows were feeding near the river.

I really like the way the light is hitting the house. First two are my favorites. Nice captures. Nice ones to play around with some cropping.

Rain, wind and cold again today. So, the flowers I brought back for my sweetheart will be my subject for today.

I'm usually a day or two late to post my pics, but I'm doing at least as much as I can to keep them coming.

Thanks Helene and Pete, now here are today's real shots. Looks like spring is finally here in Sherbrooke. I sold my motorcycle today and will be buying a new lens... :)
I'm not sure of what I will get. There is a 35-70 2.8 advertised for 300, or the 24-70, or the 24-120... Ah, decisions decisions. Not so easy with a severe NAS.
So here are my 2 favorites from just a few minutes with my 105 Sigma macro 2.8 ( I like this lens a lot).

I can see why you like the 105 Sigma macro 2.8. Awesome detail on the fly. FYI - I purchased the 24-70 mm F/2.8 - Nikon F lens when I got the D700. Can't say I am as pleased as I could be. Maybe it is camera shake (as the lens and camera are fairly heavy); but I shoot at a shutter speed of 1/1000 and the photos are still not sharp. I don't have a macro lens in my bag, but may change that after seeing these shots and others macro shots from other Nikonites!

wow, to be able to see the hairs on a fly's a$$ is impressive. How much was the first one cropped? Was saving for a micro...may have to look into this one. Nice shots.

OK, maybe I'm missing something here, Marcel, but........how do you achieve this crop? In other words, how did you get a closeup view from the original shot? My understanding of cropping is cutting out the edges/parts you don't want in the picture. Am I doing something wrong after all these years? I'm old, but I can still learn! :)

If you use photoshop, press "c" you will then see 2 squares symbol. You click on one corner of the picture and drag your mouse around to where you want the crop to stop. After determining how you want to crop, you can drag the crop to move it around and it won't apply until you double click INSIDE the cropped area.
For other pp programs, it should be kind of similar.

Oh, and I almost forgot, there is a leaf in the bottom that I retouched out from the original as well.

Oh, I know how to crop, Marcel. What I'm wondering about is how you got the shot bigger.....as if you zoomed in on it, like a closeup. I don't have Photoshop either. I just generally use Irfanview to crop and resize everything.

I'm not sure I get your question right Jack, but I'll try to answer. The original crop #115 was just resized smaller than the picture I originally posted (the cropped version). I usually resize all my images to 1200 x 1200 pixels @72 dpi, this makes my uploaded files to be anywhere between 700 KB to 1.6 MB depending on the details and colors.

Does this answer your question Jack?
