Don't be kind - be ruthless.

This is my first attempt at a night shot with a timed exposure. I only got my camera 5 days ago and have never owned a DSLR before so I am quite happy with this. However I am sure there is lots of room for improvement. Taken with Kit lens set on Manual. ISO 200 f 5.3 and 3 second exposure.
In hindsight I would like to have taken a much longer exposure to see the effect as well as one with a flash to expose the leaves in the foreground.

Was not sure where to post these. This seems as good a place as any.
This little girl was happy playing in the garden till she noticed me with my camera.

Worth a look Mike, it's been renovated quite a bit by English Heritage and is now open every day, though there is now a charge to get in.

These are untouched photos that I look a couple of weeks ago of the LDS Raleigh Temple. The sky was that clear and blue!

Pat beautiful capture and great color.

I've a question - How often are you using your Tokina 12-24mm?

I am asking cos today I got an idea to go for a wide-angle than 70-300. I wanna landscape photos as my specific photography

very nice Pat, as always. The leaves in my area are now just starting to change, but there's not much color in them as in the past. The Fall is my favorite time of the year.

Thank you... The colors are really brilliant up north now... I have just not had a chance to head up this year. Next week I am riding out through the Catskills of NY and should get a couple decent shots then I hope.

Michael, thank you!]

to your question, I am not using it as much as I had thought I would. I typically have the 18-105 on the camera and most days have either the 105 macro or 55-300 as a backup. Most "scenery" of late I have been able to shoot with the 18-105 (which is with me near always).

I find I use it more in an urban environment and I make sure I have it with when venturing in to a city to capture buildings and cityscapes. If I go out specifically to shoot landscapes (like a planned trip north or a trip to VT) then I will carry it with me.

Please be aware, I really do still like the lens... and I am glad that I bought it.
