can anybody render a guess as to where those reflections are coming from? seem too big and not in the right position to be reflecting the skulls on the ground. plus i don't think there is any reflective material there.

UV filter only. is there a type of filter that is for night photography that can prevent these reflections?

I am not sure. I am a novice that just happened to have experienced this recently. I was going to shoot a pic of the moon during the recent eclipse (which was a dud around here LOL). I was getting a reflection just like that and finally figured out it was the UV filter. I took it off and the reflection went away.

Probably basic knowledge for an experienced shooter and hopefully one comes around to answer your question.

luckily it's a Halloween pic - the reflections just give it more of an eerie quality..

Thanks for the "likes". This was the first weekend I've had off in a long time. Even though I missed the peak of the Fall colors, I wanted to go a head and take some shots anyway. The drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway is always beautiful anytime of the year.

apparently this thing is called a Sundog which happens when the sun reflects off of ice crystals in the air. pretty cool..
