Great shot. I especially like the shadow of the center part of the bloom on the lower petals.
thx.. the shadow was a bonus - didn't notice it until i sharpened the pic in ViewNX.Great shot. I especially like the shadow of the center part of the bloom on the lower petals.

just out of curiosity, what do you think of the fact that the background is not as blurred as most macros are which in effect keeps the 2nd flower in relative focus? certain someones on another site complained that because there wasn't a lot of blurring, they weren't sure what they were supposed to be looking at - the first flower only or the entire picture. i replied 'just what you see'. i liked the fact that the 2nd flower was in focus. You are supposed to say that you waited for an hour till it got just right.
And ViewNX2 is a great editing program for the people who take the time to learn it as you seem to have done.
Great job.

just out of curiosity, how did you edit this. not only did you get rid of the second bloom but you faded out the background where it previously wasn't.It is a fine line of in focus and out of focus. Personally I would have liked to see the second flower not in the shot and the leaves more out of focus. I think it would have enhanced the single bloom more. But the shot as it is works pretty good. Like I said before the shadow really makes the shot.
