Janaury28.jpgJanuary 28. Since I am still trying to master how to use a mask I tried this shot. I got this idea from an photo I saw Moab Man do where he placed himself all over a classroom and it looks like he is in several places at once. Last night I was able to get a mask on each layer and make it work. Today I struggled more with that. So I would mask with two photos and then copy that layer to another one so I was only working with two photos at a time. Each time another Baby Groot was added. I am not sure if it makes a difference in quality or not. This was still a lot of fun to do.

Son with father.jpgThis is what my son worked on today. He said he wanted to use a green gel. He placed the gel and took each shot. Then I showed him how to layer them in photo shop and it did everything himself. What I loved the most was he wanted to name this photo "Son with Father". Since I am so short I may be Darth Vader in the photo.

The quality is fine. Learning how to use layers and masking will put you ahead of a lot of people. Great job.

Thank you for the kind words. One of my biggest problems with the mask was not having my opacity dark enough and not clicking on the mask when I used it. Simple yet powerful tools.

January29.jpgJanuary 29. On this photo I worked on creating the lightsaber effect after I did all of the different angles with the flash.

Darth maul stars.jpgThis is the same image, but I wanted to practice with the mask again, but with a different background. The stars I thought might make a nice effect, but it also may be too dark of a background.

January30.jpgJanuary 30. My goal was to make it look like Superman was coming out of the book. So I used the liquify tool to create the effect. The problem I had was trying to get the figure to look like it blended better from the book. I took one photo of just the book and one of the photo. Then I used the quick select tool to cut out the figure and then past it over. My other problem I had was trying to figure out how to resize the figure. So any suggestions anyone has on how to make this look better I would love to hear it.

January31.jpgJanuary 31. The past few days I have been working 12 hours at work, so I took some shots on my lunch break. I came home from work last night and fell asleep before posting. This is a close up of the base of a lamp. I was trying to work on using a macro lens.

February1.jpgFebruary 1. This is a close up of a foil bowl I found in my classroom. I used the macro lens again so I could get in close for some extra detail.

I think maybe use the LIQUIFY tool on the book and pull it into the figure some, so it won't look like a cut-out on the book. Not sure if that will do it or not.

February2.jpgFebruary 2. Tonight I tried using candle light instead of a flash to show what the documents might have looked like on a table at night right after the birth of our nation. The documents I have are from the illustrated version of the book 1776 by David McCullough. Included are the printing of the Declaration of Independence, a letter from General Knox's letter to his wife Lucy, and a letter from General Howe to George Washington.

I really like this. It's a cool collage of stuff with a great theme behind it. Amazing to think you're only one month in to this photography thing and your work shows huge improvement.

February3.jpgFebruary 3. Working with candle light for last night's shot was fun so I decided to do the same again tonight. I cut out all ambient light by putting my aperture really high and lowering my ISO. Then I set my camera for interval timing so I could move the candle around and draw with the candle. Finally I layered several shots to combine this shot.

Thanks, my hope is I continue to improve since there is so much to learn. Also with what Ice Pikachu said about liking your photos, that was really him saying all that and not me telling him what to say.
