Yes, that was from the car. I was hoping for better and more color in the clouds, but it just didn't happen.

I wanted to experiment with longer exposures, but couldn't hold the camera steady enough.

Day 5, Shot 5, Jan 5, 2014.

Since my daughter is allergic to animals, I have to make do with the neighbors' pets for "petrography". This is Pepper, our most local mouser, from next door.

He posed for for me for quite a while today.

Day 6, Shot 6, Jan 6, 2014

It's cold outside for Florida: 26 degrees, so I'm bringing my camera inside. Not really happy with what I'm getting with my D90 and the 18-105 kit lens, so it's back to the D700 and a prime lens.

nice WM, keep them coming

Yes another nice one,its great to see flowers on here we dont have many at the moment

Thanks. I'm starting to realize that this 365 challenge is either going to make me better or make me quit! I know that I wouldn't have picked my camera up with the lighting conditions I've be forced to work with if not for the challenge. I'm really beginning to question my capabilities right now.

I think you have to split the 365 into at least two sections in your mind, the creative and the i must get one shot today, you may be surprised how many of the i must get a shot today days turn into creative days.

After a long, cold day at work, a fire just started in the fireplace. I'd rather get warm than take a photo right now.

I'm envious of the fireplace! I can remember, way back when, sitting in front of the fireplace at Granny and Grandpa's house. It always felt so amazing during the colder months!

For a bit of color, two earlier shots that I didn't post at first. Unfortunately, only one of these plants is still alive, due to the hard freeze we had over the last 24 hours.

I never had a fireplace in the house growing up, but did experience them in relative's homes, so I know what you mean about fireplace envy. When I purchased my first house, I made sure it had a "real" wood-burning fireplace. (In fact it had three: one in the family room, one in a room in the basement and one in the master bedroom.) Then we moved to our current home and I had to build an addition to get my fireplace. There haven't really been a lot of opportunities to use it here in Florida, but i really enjoy it when we can. As inefficient as it is, I am so happy to have it as opposed to a wood-burning or swedish stove where you can't watch the fire. Like you, I have wonderful memory association with fireplaces.

Even growing up in Southern Calif. we had a fireplace that would be used a few times during the year but only on special occasions. Just for the ambiance. Now I have a wood burning stove as the only source of heat in this log house. The romance goes away when you have to think about wood all the time in bad cold snaps.
