What lens is on your D750 at the moment.

Had my 24-85VR and 70-300VR on this weekend for a couple of events. Thought I'd travel light. Results tell me the 750 demands my 2.8 zooms for serious shooting (pixel peeping).

Didn't notice you had that Nikkor F4 24-120 VR @Blacktop

Thoughts so far?

Not as crazy about it as I thought I would be. I find it has more distortion at 24mm then my 20mm -D lens. As long as I pay close attention to how I hold the camera at the wide angle, it can be fixed in LR or PS, but you do have to take extra care.
IQ wise I'm happy with it. It does produce sharper images and nicer colors then my 28-105 mm-D lens, as it should with the price difference between the two.

It is a solid lens and feels nice and balanced on the D750 even without a grip.
Having said all this, I don't have this lens long enough to make a solid judgement just yet. These are just my thoughts after a short time of using it.

At first I didn't really get along that well with the 70-300mmVR either, but now I couldn't live without it.

I decided to buy the budget walk-around lens 24-85VR yesterday and after making a couple of dozen clicks I found that it's not bad at all for the price. I'm going out today to further test the lens.
A side note: the lens has front focus +7 and a bit harder to mount than other lenses (a bit too tight).

Congrats Danner!
I was about to buy that Sigma lens until a local store had the 24-85 VR for sale at half price of the Sigma!

Before anyone says "hey dummy, you're quoting yourself"! Yes I am well aware, thank you!

OMG how I love this lens! I thought about selling it a few times, but I'm glad I didn't. Love it, I tell ya!

On my D750 today was my 70-300mm first time using it but think I need to work on using it a little more. I was using Auto ISO and Auto Shutter speed so it was shooting at 1/300 sec when I was at full zoom and it looks good at full screen but when I zoom in it looks a little soft like maybe a slight movement problem Going to have to check out to see it that is the problem. What so other use as a base for shutter speed vs lens length?

I answered this at the other thread, but will do so here as well.
I am using the same combo as well at the moment for long stuff untill I get my 200-500mm.

Shooting this combo I'm almost always at 300mm. I have it set to auto ISO (max 6400) and shutter speed 1600 for Birds. If I was to shoot animals at Zoo like Elephants and lazy things like tigers that don't move very fast, I would have it at no less then a 1/1000th.

Anything under this and I would turn on the VR which I don't like to do much.

I also bought the tamron 45mm 1.8 VC.

Very impressed with it lovely and sharp creamy bokeh and how nice to have a stable viewfinder can shoot as low as 1-20th or lower if needed. It balances perfectly too.

im new to full frame coming from a d7100 and d300 before and marvel at the 3D look to the images, I didn't notice at first until I compared images and it's like night and day.

The Sigma 24-105 lives on it most of the time I find landscape shots have such beautiful rich colour with this lense.

im tempted to get the grip but never used one before.

At the moment a Tamron 70-300mm. Earlier today a Tamron 150-600mm when I was trying to catch my hawk in flight. No joy :blue:

Tinkering with the Sigma 24 1.4. I need to calibrate the autofocus for close focusing. It seems to backfocus until your about 2.5ish feet away from the subject.

And if anybody has been thinking about getting it, get it. It is amazing.
