Went sailing on Wednesday. It was a bad weather day as it turned out so only took a few photos. Found this boat....everyone mistakes it for the Black Pearl (Pirates of the Caribbean) but it is the Notorious.

We got out to Moreton Island again...only for the 1 night. It's been really crappy weather her lately. Either raining or blowing too hard. As it was on this particular night the wind came up and my fella sat up all night as he could not sleep. We'd had a new anchor winch put on recently and every pitch a little chain was slipping. Enough that at 6am we had to pull up anchor or be stranded on the low tide as we'd drifted across to shallower water. Around 1am a large catamaran dragged anchor and came drifting between us and another boat. The night was such a difference to the glassy calm water of the day

OK...for some reason photo uploader just not working for me. I'll try again tomorrow

I have trouble here too. I can no longer use Apple Safari for this forum on my iMac, the only way I can upload photos is by using Firefox.
I have even had to use the basic uploader function in Firefox a few times lately.

Yeah, maybe something has changed. I used to just select all the photos I wanted and tell it to upload. Now it won't let me do anymore that 1 at a a time and that will just take me way long to be bothered :(

Well, well...it worked. Don't know why it wouldn't work last night for me. I must be getting old. I'm finding it harder and harder to get stuff to work on my computer and when things go wrong these days, I feel less and less like trying to fix them

So.... I am sad.... I am visiting my sister as I do evry year and we went whale watching on Monday. Our boat was hit by a rogue wave and we got a soaking... including my camera & 2 lenses. My camera is not working properly but the lenses SEEM to be OK. Thank goodness my gear is insured. Now I just need to get it all inspected before I can make a claim. No camera is a bugger though. I have borrowed my sisters old D3100... it's not a patch on my D7100.

Might be my push to go full frame

send camera and lens to the nikon repair center - depending on your insurance they should cover the cost of shipping and all repairs/check out (mine did). If the camera is beyond repair it probably will be replaced by a refurbished unit.

My insurance company won't pay postage nor the cost of inspection but that is OK. I will take it to to get looked at when I get home. The good news is the lenses seem to be OK but I'll still get them looked at anyway. Won't be able too get it done for a couple of weeks yet but insurance people said that is OK. It's a relief that it is covered at least.

OK...so the story with my camera is that the damage was not enough to claim on insurance so I footed the repair bill myself. That was one expensive whale watching trip.

Of course, now I have it back it is raining. Has been raining for a week..... 225 mm (9 inches) so far and it is continuing

Pictures from my week away at my sisters. Alot of them were taken with her old camera after mine got wet and stopped working. I also broke my glasses on the first day there so was struggling all week. Quite a few are not up to par but I had a great week. The whale watching trip was a bit of a let down. It was rough and we only saw the one whale that wasn't doing much. One of the highlights was Gossangs Tunnel. You go thru and come out on a rock platform above the sea on a cliff. Very cool. Hard going getting in for us old birds tho...it was hands and knees crawling

OK.. so my camera has been back to the repairer. Used it once and it stopped working again... sticky flash button apparently, but we shall see. I hope it is fixed now.
