I continue to struggle with birds in flight with my Tamzooka, so today I once again sat on the headland and targeted seagulls (being the most numerous). I had a bit better success today

I also got this young gull as it took off

and this Brahminy Kite

and this little skink, all 2 inches of him, was stuck in my garden cart this morning so I snapped him before I released him

We've had some really hot weather in the last few days and today was much cooler, so the birds were out and about this afternoon in my yard and I got some nice shots

We took the dog across to the coast too

Been out practising moving bird shots again. Had the help of fish n chips

Watched the seagulls washing. Can't say I've ever seen them do this before

and a magpie family came by

and a little noisey miner hung out with us too

we left when the rain started

on the way home, found this fella in the road, so gave him a portrait sitting and moved him on

i saw a guy feed the sea gulls with bread dipped in hot sauce, the gulls ate it, barfed it up, but wouldnt let it go

Some nice bird shots here. I saw a flock of 4 turkey hens on my little photo safari of this previous week. They saw me and started going in the opposite direction I stopped the Jeep, D700 and 600mm f/4 in hand and tried to out flank them. I went about 100 yards in the direction I anticipated they would go. In about 10 minutes I heard them in the dry leaves. They got close but not really close enough to get some good photos. I guess they smelled me, I was upwind of them and they took off in the other direction.

I hate being outsmarted by a bird as dumb as a turkey!

Went sailing with friends yesterday. Apart from the obvious problem of taking shots from a moving object, there is also salt spray on lenses & filters to contend with, so lots of "soft" shots

Sure.....you are welcome to take it......as long as my camera is attached

....and I am attached to my camera

Seriously now.....I think you should take 2 camera bodies so you can carry a walkabout lens AND a telephoto whenever you get out of the vehicle

I think back on the trips I have done in the past and wish I could just redo them all just for the photo opportunities

I've taken to going out at the end of the day and sitting quietly in the wilderness of my backyard with my camera. Today I had a really good hour watching

The little Thornbills (tiny birds abt 10cm long) bathing in the new fryingpan birdbath

A baby Scrub Turkey....I thought it was a quail at first

He is soooooo cute!! We have at least 2 Scrub Turkey mound nests in our property. Not sure which one he came from

and then to top it all off, our resident wallaby came up the hill and didn't see me hiding behind a tree, so he was quite close. I didn't get a clear shot but not bad as he's VERY timid

When I was out and about this morning I spotted a bird's nest as well. An Olive Backed Oriole. So it's been a great day. Simple things........

We've been getting some afternoon storms this week, which have dropped some pretty heavy rain in some areas (not mine tho), so the cane farmers were busy today burning the cane & harvesting before todays storms hit. Managed to get a few shots of a harvesting this afternoon

My kids came to visit for Christmas today. We played out on the lawn with the dogs, so I got my camera out to try some shots. My sons dog is a ball of fluff and I find him hard to photograph. My daughter has a Border Collie and she is very photogenic
