Been out and about in the local area looking for something rural today

This tree looks like it's had a somewhat hard life, but it struggles on

Great shots! You're one of the ones I get envious of. I live in a boring area and have to travel to see nature. 4-6 hours to the beach. No exotic birds or animals. So, your pictures make me want to travel. Someday!! LOL

The grass is always greener.........
I envy those that have urban decay at their fingertips, and street photography opportunity :D
Living in the country has it's disadvantages but having said all that I'd still rather live in the country, and such a beautiful country it is too :D

a couple of longer exposure shots on a dull day on the coast. I hardly ever get to see a decent sunset where I live so I created one

NEW_1384_webshot.jpg

NEW_1390_webshot.jpg

I also sat and took some shots of some Crested Terns. I tried to catch some in flight (yeah right!!) until my dog scared them all away

and finally....the yarn bombed tree

Thanks Marilynne. I hadn't seen that wiki page. My bird book has hand drawings of the birds so colours/markings can be a bit hit and miss at times, but Striated Heron was the most likely :D

On the Gold Coast today. Supposedly the mecca for holiday makers. Yes, the beaches are nice but there are always FAR too many humans, and it's under the flight path for the airport at Coolangatta.

Currumbin Beach.

Wendy, It is one of these (but for Nikon obviously)

High Sensitivity YET Stable Lightning Trigger FOR Canon DSLR MJKZZ Ltrig C3 | eBay

It is EXTREMELY sensitive and takes lots of shots with no lightning but it ALWAYS gets the lightning. I had my camera set to 5sec to try to possibly get more than one strike in the exposure but we weren't getting strikes that close together.

For a super cheap item it is great. I bought myself another hot shoe cover and glued the unit to it so I could slip it into the hot shoe, otherwise it just dangles by the wires which is not good as the wires are fine. I think the people that sell the units also sell a mount as a separate item tho.
