Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close)

Crappy rainy day again today, so I faked a safari in my living room :)

This might be my last daily shot for a while as I'll be leaving tomorrow and I'm NOT taking a computer with me to upload my pics. You'll get to see them when I come back...

I love your storm shot . . . very nice and "gloomy" :)

Fake safaris are wonderful! I like the subtle colors and the happy giraffe smiles :)

Have a safe and happy trip, Marcel!

Thanks Helene, I'm just about to close the camera bag, but wonder if I will take just the right lenses…I'll be cycling so weight is an issue, but there will be city tours as well. Also I wonder if I should bring an extra spare body (D90)?

Back from my cycling vacations in Hungary, I'm still Post processing but will start posting a picture a day from this trip.

The first one is the dawn first light as seen above the Atlantic ocean.

From our first cycling day, we came to this bridge over this little river.

this is an HDR of the walkway to the lake in Kesthely (hungary). This pic was taken the first night I arrived.

Taken while strolling the shops in Vienna. B & W seemed to translate the mood better than color.

Beautiful B&W, really makes me feel like I have stepped back in time.

Thanks Kim, this is exactly what I thought when I shot this, the kid's mother was just a store away waiting for her kid that just stood there like he was waiting for someone.
Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to open the aperture a little more. I shot this at 1/10s f9. I might have gone up to 1/60th if I had the time to think. This was just a point and shoot and hurry up before the kid disappears.

This I shot using the "lens baby" from my hotel room on the 7th floor. I liked the ethereal feel.

Re: Today's Pic (not 265-2011 but maybe close)

Malorca was last year, this year was Hungary. More difficult to talk to people since most don't speak or understand english nor french...

Such was the case with this shot. As I got into a public bus, there was this old lady with a bucket of ripe tomatoes sitting by herself. I took the camera out and asked her with gestures if I could take a picture of her. She motioned no. I then started to plead by joining my hands together and she said no again. Then, I tried to mimic tears coming out of my eyes and she finally said (not with words) Oh what the heck, go ahead.

This is the story behind this particular shot.
