This hobby, I swear!

Isn't it time you changed to full frame? Either the D800E or D800? Of course, you'll need a ton of new glass for the FX format...

Does that help?

I told her I was going to upgrade and she asked if I can use the same lenses. She may not understand cameras. but she's far from dumb!

Has anyone admitted to their significant other just how much they've spent on this hobby?

I was watching a video on user settings and for whatever reason they just had to say the price of the D610. The girlfriend just happened to be sitting 3 feet away.

It got pretty scary for a second. I got to the 6th grade before the danger was diverted.....

I had that problem when my wife came with me to fix the new telescope and she saw the price tag on the same model in the shop!

Welcome to the club. You should have stayed with golf or tennis. I heard collecting stamps is cheaper!

Think of it this way. It is cheaper than collecting hand guns or riffles. ;)

In the uk collecting guns and rifles is restricted to criminals these days, law abiding people can't have them.

Try driving a Jeep and having a photography hobby!
The jeep is an excuse to go shoot, but they both require upgrades in order to perform better!

I also am a watch collector and sold a few to get started in the photography hobby. I went a bit nuts the first few months and bought D5100 then upgraded to a D7100 when I saw a brand new one for a good price...then was planning on keeping both bodies but after a month decided to sell the D5100 and so far have sold off 4 lenses and returned 1 to the store for a different one....

I feel like I am ''done'' for now and have just sold the Nikon 17-55mm/2.8 on ebay. Maybe just need a polarizer and ND filter..

You're never done with this addiction. It's as bad as watch collecting!

I guess this is not a good thing for me cause my camera equipment is expanding, I also collect watches (and want more), and I also have many guns.....now what?

Use the guns to shoot the watches and the cameras to shoot the guns shooting the watches. Simples.

Honestly, collecting glass is fun since your collection piece can be put to use, and if you made the right choices, produce some incredibly fresh results in our era where every bokeh and flare looks exactly the same.

That said, after you have your AF workhorse set, I'd only really venture off to the side for pieces TRULY worth attention and those that hold their value. Trioplan 100mm, Voiglanders, etc.

For me, first such item is my 45mm AI-P since Nikon only ever really made 1 tessar/pancake and later updated it to be a superb old-meets-new kinda little lens. It was pretty much remade to be more of a collector item and that makes me appreciate it twice.
