The Institute of Marine Science
The Institute of Marine Science, Burapha University was originally from the Zoological Museum and Marine Aquarium of the former Srinakharinwirot University Bangsaen Campus (Burapha University at present). In 1980, the University proposed a cooperative project to the Japanese Government for a construction of new facility to replace the Zoological Museum and Marine Aquarium. The project was approved of 230 millions baht to construct the Marine Science Center.
Her Royal Highness Princess Mahachakri Sirindhon presided over the foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of the center on March 23, 1982. His Majesty the King came to preside over the opening ceremony of the Marine Science Center on July 24, 1984. The Marine Science Center was later approved by the Cabinet as the Institute of Marine Science on May 23, 1985.
