Bill, it seems like things are slowly but surely coming together for you. Keep the faith, man!
I went to renew my license today too, but the wait was really long and I was hurting too much. So I will try again another day, maybe when the first open was my thought. Sigh.....but at least I'm not having to hurry doing it three months early.
I wish I could get new glasses first, but Medicaid and Medicare doesn't cover glasses.
Hey Bill, is there anywhere you could buy a cheap pair of glasses for a couple of bucks? In the UK there are stores that sell them in various prescriptions, you'd have to try them out I guess to see which you need and that might not be a good pair long term but could help you to get through your renewal. Just a thought![]()
Are you a vet, Bill? If so, you can get an exam and one pair for free.
I will still get $52.00, so I will survive.![]()
Per week, month..?
Is that per week, I hope? Or at least bi-weekly.Well it was a misunderstanding about my food stamps. I will get a little less, but I will still get $52.00, so I will survive.![]()

I really don't know much about that stuff, but if you are on disability, then I could see where food stamps might be lower.![]()
I wonder if Nikon would cut you a deal on a pair of glasses? [/wink]
I don't know if you have a Lions club in your area, but they collect used eye glasses and make them available for people in need.

For my needs I would need new lenses bifocals that matched prescription. General lenses for mild or common prescriptions wouldn't work. I just can't afford to go for new glasses until my truck is paid off.
Money will be a pretty big issue for me from now on, now that my wife has passed away. I can only do my best to pay my current debts until they are paid off, and then my budget might have a bit more room for things needed than it currently has my friends.
I understand your predicament. The Lions club accepts all donated eye glasses. They remove the lenses and determine the strength of each lens. Then they store all the same prescription lenses together. When someone needs glasses, they try to come up with as close a match to the prescription as possible. I'm just saying you might be able to get lenses that will allow you to see better than what you've got. Since you are afraid you won't pass the eye exam, I'm guessing you don't see all that well. There is a Lions club in Raleigh--perhaps there is one closer to you. It wouldn't hurt to check.
