As seen above, one of the reasons I was in Cleveland was to see the Mets vs. Indians game on Sunday. My wife is a lifelong Mets fan, and I am an Indians fan, and given that the odds of us ever meeting in the World Series is rather astronomical we decided to head off to see them at Progressive Field. The fact that her brother lives there (they both married Indians fans) made the trip a little more convenient and multipurposed.
I decided to bring the 70-200mm along just in case our seats provided decent enough views, which it did. All are taken with the D600 and are cropped at about 50-70%. I believe had I brought the D800 I may have done better shooting in DX mode (next time).

Jake, I looked at the EXIF data from a couple of your baseball photos and was amazed to see you used f/4 and f/5. The DOF is incredible for 200mm!
Love the lens and am so glad I bought it.

Met a friend for breakfast this morning and decided that the sky was too interesting not to go out and shoot before getting back to work. It's been a while since I did that - it felt good.
I was hunting for subjects for this month's "Weathered" theme and remembered this old dairy a couple miles away. We had torrents of rain yesterday, so getting close enough to where I wanted to shoot would have been disastrous as I was well underdressed for mud. But I did get this one shot. It's a bit too cluttered and unfocused, but I sort of like it anyway. Then I asked myself, "What would it look like in B&W?" So, off to Silver Efex Pro I went. I liked it better, so I kept playing. I eventually went to the colored filter sliders and when I added green filters it popped. I played with the amount of filtering and the hue and wound up with this very eerie Infrared effect that I really like - a lot more than the original. Not a great photo, but a good example of what you can do with one that you're not necessarily crazy about.
So here you have it...

I like the B&W that looks almost like an infrared.

i like (not love) the colored version. I know it is an old barn, for me the cow stalls pop in the colored version, hay
I had to do some tweaking to balance the lighting on the color photo. The cow stalls are what originally held my interest but there was just a 4 foot mud swath between me and a better picture of the inside.
Helene, the color photo was originally run through HDR Efex 2 and that made the whole photo pop. As I was mentioning in your "backyard" photo, I used control points to actually back out some of the structure effect to the sky and to bring out some more color. Once I threw the green filter on (with a slight nudge towards the yellow) blue went to stormy very quickly.

Funny thing about that, but it was barely noticeable until after I ran it through HDR Efex. After that it became impossible to remove without leaving a trail behind. If I liked it more I would have gone back to the original, fixed it there and reprocessed (which come to think of it, I could have done quite easily had I used Smart Objects).
