Woke up this morning to a houseful of sleeping visitors, so I decided to revisit some of the IR stuff I shot Friday that didn't work out as well, just to see what would happen if I didn't do pure channel swaps and what I could do using some of the Nik plugins as well.

Here's one where I used Viveza to desaturate the foreground statue and boost the structure elsewhere. I also altered the hue of the sky and saturation of the trees to get more color. I'm starting to see some of the hotspots in the lens that I'd heard of with IR photography. Some are correctable, some not so much.

With this photo I didn't do a pure channel swap, but instead added back some of the original colors to see what it did. Ran it through Color Efex Pro 4 and boosted the details (Detail Extractor filter) which I then masked in the water a bit. Then I selectively altered the hue of some aspects of the photo. I'm finding you can spend hours just tweeking if you let yourself. LOL

No more than 6 inches tall, there was something so incredibly sad about this headstone in Washington Cemetery. And yet, with all the fallen and missing stones around it, it has survived the countless mowers that could have easily destroyed it. I don't know why, but I couldn't even bring myself to disturb the grass in front to try and find a date. IR from Sunday morning.

Apparently my wife has either been mispronouncing it, or I've been mishearing it, but it's called "Bee Balm" (not Bee Bomb - lol). It attracts hummingbirds like crazy. She put a couple in several years ago and they invaded the entire area.

Oh yeah, btw, I got this macro lens right before I got my D7000 IR conversion back. LOL

A couple of the many Swallowtail Butterfly Caterpillars that cling to the dill in our herb planters (or as my wife refers the them, "Her Fat Boys".

The IR mill shots are Fantastic! I really like the toning of the first one and the B&W on the second. I just can't get a grip on the colored IR :)

Thanks, Rick. Yeah, I couldn't be happier with the mill shots, and they've convinced me that IR B&W with landscapes is the better way to go.

Fantastic shots as usual Jake. Your IR shots have me seriously considering converting my old D70. Just gotta find someone here is OZ that will do it for a decent price.
