It's a museum. Funny thing is, for as many times as I've visited I've never taken the time to go in. That's what happens when it's "that close".

Waiting in a field for the Northern Lights on Saturday as the clouds started coming in. At least I got something.

You got way more than me... It was so dark and overcast could not see a single star.. I was just hoping they would be wrong about when it would be heavily clouded...

When we got out just after dusk it was very clear, but things went south rather quickly. We were headed home by 9:30.

Been busy and haven't been out shooting. Managed to get out to at least the front walk yesterday and then messed about in Photoshop last night.

It came out good Jake! If I did not know what your were working on, I would have been asking questions. The effect came out nice!

Thanks, Pat. I messed with the Oil Painting filter in PS a bit. I did an unfiltered version and the whites seemed a little too untextured, even though they weren't blown out. Might have overdone it a touch now that I'm seeing it on another monitor - who knows?

Work has me limited to backyard shooting. We recycled a frying pan years ago as a ground feeder for the birds. One day, after it was empty and a heavy rain came through we found that they much preferred it for bathing. Sort of comical to think that they have no idea what they're stepping in...

Living next to a field we not only get the critters we like, but the occasional one we don't like. One of them is a rat that has taken residence either in our woodpile or somewhere under the deck ... or both. After we spread seed it makes the odd appearance. This dove, as best we could tell, was doing it's best Karate Kid impersonation in order to scare the rat away. Nature can make us laugh.

Best Dove picture I have every seen. Normally a pretty dull bird to shoot.

Thanks, Don. Actually, I find that these birds have an appealing clown-like quality to them if you get them around other birds. The trick is catching them as a chipmunk wants to plow through them, or when they're chasing down a female on a bare branch, or like this, when they finally get pissed off enough that something keeps chasing them from their food. LOL They have a great variety of pastel colors in them if you catch them in the right light with their wings extended, which can be tough to do for as docile as they can be they are amazingly fast in the air.

I don't get much time to view other photos on here. Nice shots. Too bad I don't live closer, I would be bringing my metal detector to some of those old houses you shot.
