Had the day off today, skipped the typically monday madness and took the dogs to the park.

I have really enjoyed seeing so many of us going out and shooting the moon. It has pushed many to go beyond their comfort level and try something new.

Its great fun to shoot the moon:D Now star trails would be awesome but that is something i've yet to attempt.

That is on my list. My wife and I have been looking for dark sky but the nearest place is 1.5 hours away and when we went to look at the location in daytime it was all trees so no open area that we could get to. So we are still looking. We may end up in a place that is not quite dark sky.

Do you have an observatory nearby? That may be a good place to start. Little light pollution and no trees nearby. Our local observatory is 2.5 miles from my house. I have to get up there with my camera some night.

I forget that people have to look for darkness. I can look to the horizon and see the faint glow from two major cities otherwise our light pollution comes from the brightness of the stars. In the winter when there is snow on the ground you can see quite well from the reflected starlight.

None that are close by, might be a bit of travel involved. It might be great for star trails and the darkest skies.
