Afternoon drive

Every year I try to catch this neighbour out with his truck but never seem to pull it off. I'm 5ft tall so need to start learning how to use stilts :)

Out for an evening drive and found myself greatly amused. As we drove through a heavy residential area we found a tiny little ski hill! As we drove around more through the houses we came across the neighbourhood baseball diamond up on top of the ski hill :)

Greenhouse/nursery seemed like a better place to hang out

Tolerant only to a certain point my chocolate girl with her nest. I'm not exactly certain when she first sat on her nest but I think she has about a week or 2 before she hatches and I don't want to disturb her too much with all those growing babies under her.

After I took this I realized there is another duck with a nest back there!

Runner ducks aren't known for good mothering so we'll see how she does

This girl hatched out last year so we'll see how she does with her nest as well

Young girl not sure whether to attack or run away. She must have just started today because her nest is tiny and messy

Quite overcast and dreary today with girls hiding in dark areas so was out of my iso comfort level!

@wud Runner ducks is short for Indian Runner ducks. They are a breed of duck that stand straight up and look like fast moving penguins :) I have a few and they lay pretty blue eggs but they're pretty skittish however hilarious to see them running :) I'll have to see if I can catch a shot of the bowling pins running LOL

Chocolate duck is not moving from her nest so I expect little fuzzy ducklings very soon

Trouble

Violet my eldest girl at 6yrs old. Found her and her nest when we moved bunny hutches out of shelter for the summer. I built a quick shelter over her after this shot to protect her and her nest from murderous ravens

Alpacas do have very funky teeth LOL They have no upper teeth in front and really just use the front teeth to scoop and grinding/chewing teeth are way in the back. Martin injured his front legs somehow in our open field (sigh) and Vet didn't see any chance of recovery so we were saying our goodbyes to him as she prepared to put him down. It was a terrible afternoon/evening. Keeping so many animals and taking in so many elderly ones means we always seem to be saying goodbye to someone and it never gets easier.
