Just using what I have :) They really are awful and absolutely everywhere. Even the cat has to be checked before coming in the house because they are on everything UGH! Hubby and I spent the weekend doing some building outside and everything we picked up was covered in them. We put up clean caterpillar free boards only to have them crawling on them and falling down on us in minutes, its truly awful.
Last year wasn't as bad but we didn't get a single crabapple. The trees will grow leaves again if we can get the caterpillars to move on and find new trees to demolish. However they are still arriving and getting worse not moving on yet :(

Thanx Wendy The thing that made me drop my tools and run for the camera was the rain under those clouds. It was pretty clear and torrential and I had camera stored before it hit us thankfully because we got SOAKED while we tried to get the tools stored safely :) You know the thunder is loud when you can hear it loudly over the sound of a chainsaw LOL

Foreground "distractions" are often what give a photograph scope. So you don't always want to eliminate them, you just want to minimize any distractions. Having 1/2 a building and part of a tree is far more distracting to me than the entire thing. You can always tone down their visual impact.

The ominous clouds and rain is what I wanted to capture but the direction it was coming from had animals who didn't stay and pose nicely, telephone poles and way too many fences. I tried B&W because I thought it showed off what I most found interesting and helped tone down the other things I couldn't get rid of. I different location would have been nice but wasn't possible at the time so I tried to do what I could. I still struggle a lot with composition and my attempts at PP. I mainly was learning what ISO, shutter and aperture are and working on technique. I have not delved into PP I find it overwhelming so so far have really only played in iPhoto  I did a lightroom 30day trial when I first got camera and found this site but then I had no idea what the light meter was on my camera so had to go back many many steps and start at the beginning. It's past time for me to tackle PP programs though.

I removed power lines as best as I could and thought B&W more dramatic

too many distractions I needed another location besides my yard (that needed a cleanup..) I found the rain so clearly falling interesting and the clouds above and around so movie like but my yard didn't add to the photo at all!

Photobombed by one of my sons ugliest hens LOL (nothing wrong with it honest it's supposed to be that ugly its the breed (Turken) and son has 5 of them)

My health hasn't been great so son not allowed to hatch chicks this year. I got him 10 chicks this Spring and he just moved them out of brooder into the coop. They wouldn't get away from that craptastic fence

This evening we had a singer up in the last of the trees with leaves so pulled out the tamron and tried to see what it was singing away so nicely :)

Flew into a slightly lower tree with less leaves but more branches. Fading light was quite pinky tonight but pretty sure it was a Robin
DSC_2059.jpg DSC_2064.jpg

It's buddy flew by but only landed a second and I mucked it up. Can't imagine why it didn't stick around long...

I think I was a bit too close so focused manually to get these. ISO 6400 and I was hand holding that monster tonight so thought they turned out ok :)

Juvenile white sturgeon nearing 30yrs old 120-160lbs (55-72.5 kgs)

There is 4 in the little pool for todays grand opening of the conservation centre. These were caught in the river and not quite mature enough for breeding so they're keeping for next year. They had them out for public viewing in a tank but lighting horrid hard too see. Wow they are big! One was at least 7ft long (2m) the other 3 slightly smaller
On Father's Day a 19yr old and his Father were on fishing trip from Georgia USA and caught 400kg (880lb) 10ft (3m) white sturgeon which they figure has been in the river since about when Canada became a country. Largest ever caught in our river was 20ft (6m)
Amazing like giant dinosaurs :)
