Rough Road ahead....

Howdy All,

Have not updated in a while.... sorry! No excuse but caring for her, Hurricane Irma and other stuff just has kept me busy... not even much in the way of photos...

Anyway, overall, things are good... right now, she is really rough but I will touch on that in a few.

We are now one week into round 3.... some rough days, some good days but nothing out of what would be expected. Her 3rd and last (for this session) infusion was a week ago and she is still on the pump for the 3rd drug 24/7 for 2 more weeks. Meeting with the oncology Dr yesterday went well, her blood work was "not real good" and showing the effects of the chemo but his statement was that it was normal for the stage she is. He likened everything to a marathon, she is at the last miles and they will be the hardest!!!! (Trust me, they are!!) She has an infection, making it hard to swallow and also BP was low. She got an antibiotic and some fluids.

She is rough now (expected as the effects of the chemo accumulate) and is weak and often dizzy. Not a lot of energy and we work hard together to keep her moving some (with an arm to grab should she need it). We are hoping the swallowing will improve as the antibiotics takes affect and she can get a bit more nourishment. She has 2 more weeks with the Chemo pump and then this phase is completed!

Next up will be the surgery to remove the tumor. We have about 2 weeks after Chemo ends and then we go to the hospital, get some new scans and meet with the surgeon. At this point, we are hopeful that things will be good and we can proceed to schedule an endoscopy (I think) followed by the surgery...

That will be the next milestone.... Will keep you posted with an update after that meeting...

Again, thank you ALL for the kind thoughts, prayers and Love.... With you all, we are not alone!

Praying for you both Pat. Praying for healing and strength for you both. I know chemo is ugly and it is like a marathon. As I was thinking of your update I thought of this passage from Isaiah. I also thought of Dad as he dealt with the chemo and it did get better... He liked this verse too.

Prayers for you both

Dan

Isaiah 40:28-31 (ESV) [SUP]28[/SUP] Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
[SUP]29[/SUP] He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
[SUP]30[/SUP] Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
[SUP]31[/SUP] but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.

Danno, thank you so much for sharing that! It is very appropriate for where we are...

Hi Everyone.... Sorry for the delay in my attendance and updates.... My wife became Very ill with a bacteria in her blood and no immune system from chemo... I had to rush her to emergency and they told me I was lucky I got her in when I did.. she was in a month... now home but needing care 24/7 as she is unable to walk without assistance.

Put a strain on me such that I ended up in the hospital for 3 days (heart issues - no attack) I am now seeing a cardiologist.

We went to Atlanta to see the surgeon and that was also bad news. She (as of today) is NOT a viable candidate for surgery and at this point we are unsure if ever will be..

Hey, we are upbeat as can be... Thanks for all of your support... I will try and be a bit more regular..
