RON's A ROUND TUIT THREAD

Thanks Wendy. You have to have the focus exactly where you want it to be before you press the shutter. This lens is a little unforgiving in that regard.
I totally agree, the focus is very picky, and the DOF is narrow. But, that lens can get some great, crisp shots. You are doing great learning about the lens.

I'm glad that your Cannas leaves look like mine. I wasn't sure if I was growing them correctly. The leaves are so lovely that I can't wait for the blossoms. I REALLY_REALLY like the Star Gazer shot!!! You are learning the delicate art of using the 60mm VERY well!!! Beautiful Photography Ron.

Thanks Wendy . I just try to copy what I see you do. Depending on the size of the flower, the nifty 50 can do just as good of a job as the 60mm micro. I totally agree that the cannas leaves are as interesting as the flowers. Looking forward to so great blossoms. Have you seen my cannas photo in my gallery that is titled Connie,s Flower? This is what I am hoping for. Of course, I will photograph Connie's cannas when they flower also.

@wthorson, Wendy the bud is from one of my plants and I hope it will open about Wed. of this week. The other cannas are Connie's. They are indeed a lovely plant and I am shooting them using 3 separate lenses and then picking the lens pic that I like best. I really feel that they have to be photographed in the early morning or near sunset and back lit if possible. Tell me if you want a print.

140 - Version 3.jpgThis photo from 2008 shot with my D80, somewhere in the mountains of Utah, I think, and fooled around with as a b & w conversion

That was exactly my thought but there is a lot of digital noise in the sky. On the other hand it has been fiddled around a lot. The color original is printed to a 20 x 30 print.
