Downtown is very colorful!

Thanks Marilynne... The other side of the street has some nice high end restaurants that are nice brick structures... not as colorful, but when I have more time I may try and get creative over there.. They have really done a nice job of re-viving Main Street!

I really like this one Pat. Great job.

Thank you very much.. I took it in color (obviously) but coupled with the lack of color, the salt covered everything from the snow and the overcast greay before the next snow.. It was Blah.. then I thought, B&W. :)

Day 51 - 2/20/2013

This was an interesting day... I had 2 photos planned, in the dark, on my way to work... The first, I took but it was not a keeper.. partly me partly the scene.. I may try it later this week.

The 2nd was just a short detour on may way in... Normally a right on Main Street, this building was a left and maybe 30 yards. So, I made the left, went down one block to turnaround, came back out parked in front and took a couple photos! Here is the one I liked ... But, there is more to the story!!!

When I was turning around, I saw a possible scene as I drove back up to Main.. I was waiting for traffic when it registered, that maybe was a very good scene!! I decided to go back, so I backed down the narrow side road past the subject and got out. I took 3 pictures of the scene.. one was blurred (hand held) .. Upped the ISO and shot too more with slightly different angles.. This is what I got and I was glad I did not continue but turned back..

I like them both but the 2nd is my favorite! I guess that means always keep your eyes open to a photo op. Thank to Everyone at Nikonites!!!!! A couple months ago I never would have "seen" the possibility of that shot without this forum!

Saw these and immediately thought that 3 of them shot head on would make a cool tryptic.

Great idea/suggestion Jake! Next time I am downtown I may just look for that ... I want to get a couple shots of establishments on the other side of Main Street.. not "colorful" but nice architecture..

Thanks for helping me think and visualize..

Day 52 - 2/21/2013... Part 2

There is not alot around where I work to get decent pictures but Horsehoe Pond seems to be a Natural..

A bunch of ducks out in the pond where the ice was thawed... 2 problems, they were too far away and I had to shoot through the trees.. these were the best...

The proverbial "Kiss My A#$"

DSC_4167.jpg

"Bobbing for Apples?"

DSC_4169.jpg

There was a beaver on the edge of the ice...
The 2 ducks, "If we dip under, do you think he will see us?"

DSC_4170.jpg

Driving out to go back to work...
A squirrel and a tree stump (with snow)

If anyone actually likes these shots, alot of the credit goes to Marilynne! She has been impressing me (along with others like Grandpa) but she has shared with me, answering all my questions and we shoot the same equipment so the answers are directly relevant... Thanks Marilynne!! (and Jeff, his in flight shots also inspire me!)

Thanks Pat! I'm flattered and humbled that my BIF shots impress you. Glad I was able to pass along my little bit of knowledge. You and Jeff have inspired me. Keep up the good work!

Sounds good to me. When will you be in FL? Actually, we wouldn't be able to shoot the same things. I would get jealous when both of your shots turn out better than mine.

You know Jeff, it is not likely but it sure would be fun someday if the opportunity ever presented itself!! We would have a great time and also fun comparing notes and photo's after the shoot!! I would learn so much in one day of shotting with you two.

You never know, it about 18 months I will be living in Savannah! I will be much closer but also have coastal waterways and marshes to practice in!!
